摘要: It is proposed an automatically steering optical beam-forming network (OBFN), which is consisted of an optical fiber loop structure. The loop structure is composed by an optical switch, an optical fiber splitter, and an optical true time delay lines based on dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). The channel number of the DWDM is matched with the number of the phased array antennas (PAA). The true time delay difference between two adjacent channels is set as a basic step. And the optical wave modulated by radio frequency (RF) signal can run into the loop and suffer increased delay with increased circles. Thus the PAA is steered automatically without additional controlling and programming. The performance of this design is analyzed with its maximal circle numbers and the splitting ratio of the optical splitter in theory. The concept-proof experiments with 8 optical channels for DWDM are carried out and the simulation of the PAA radiation pattern is given.

摘要: Planar or cylindrical phased arrays are two candidate antennas for future polarimetric weather radar. These two candidate antennas have distinctly different attributes when used to make quantitative measurements of the polarimetric properties of precipitation. Of critical concern is meeting the required polarimetric performance for all directions of the electronically steered beam. The copolar and cross-polar radiation patterns and polarimetric parameter estimation performances of these two phased array antennas are studied and compared with that obtained using a dual-polarized parabolic reflector antenna. Results obtained from simulation show that the planar polarimetric phased array radar has unacceptable polarimetric parameter biases that require beam to beam correction, whereas biases obtained with the cylindrical polarimetric phased array radar are much lower and comparable to that obtained using the parabolic reflector antenna.

Research on a Novel Kind of Dual Polarized Stacked Printed Antenna
摘要: This paper presents a dual polarized antenna with high isolation for a wide-angle scanning phased array radar. For the proposed antenna, the electronic and magnetic resources are realized through a printed monopole antenna and a slot ring antenna, respectively. A metal reflector ground was introduced to achieve the unidirectional pattern, and the ratio of front to back of the pattern was improved. The printed monopole and slot ring antenna are fed by the coaxial and electromagnetic couplings, respectively. The radiation fields emitted by the electronic current resource and magnetic current resource are approximately orthogonal to each other among large space ranges. The measured port isolation of the designed antenna is above 20 dB, and the wide beam performance can be observed. The feasibility of the proposed antenna scheme is verified.

摘要: This paper proposes a new method of beamforming for colocated MIMO radar with the coprime arrays. The proposed method splits the transmitting array into multiple overlapped subarrays and then transmits a coherent signal through each subarray, to achieve a maximum power in the desired direction. However, the signals from distinct subarrays are independent to preserve the diversity bene?t of the MIMO radar. Thus, the proposed method exploits the advantages of both phased array and MIMO radars as well as the coprime arrays. Simulation results are presented to signify the beampattern and the signal to interference plus noise ratio performance of the proposed method and to compare with the earlier methods such as phased array radar, MIMO radar and the coprime MIMO radar.

摘要: We discuss some potential benefits of using integrated RF-photonic devices/circuits in a phased-array-Radar system. A viable and simple solution is proposed for a low-cost, RF-photonic multi-beams beamformer that meets both transmitting and receiving RF-system specifications/requirements. Proof-of-concept experiments and chip-scale integrated-photonics subsystem development will also be discussed.
