  • Perovskite solar cells based on polyaniline derivatives as hole transport materials

    摘要: Perovskite solar cells (PSC) have been extensively studied over the past few years in both academia and industry. Despite their appeal as a low cost and ease processing PV-technology, PSC still rely on materials that are expensive, turning the large-scale production more challenging. In this work, polyaniline (PAni) and its derivative poly(o-methoxyaniline) are employed as hole transport material (HTM) in PSC, replacing the most explored HTM, spiro-OMeTAD. These very well established conducting polymers are doped with 4-dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) to enhance their conductivity. The correlation between the performance of the solar cells using doped and undoped conducting polymers and different metallic contacts are also evaluated. The best power conversion efficiency was 10.05% using doped PAni-DBSA with Au as contact, which is similar to the performance exhibited by our standard device using Spiro-OMeTAD as HTM.

  • Characterization of atypical polyaniline nano-structures prepared via advanced techniques

    摘要: Conductive polymers had been the topic of a vast number of investigations during the last decades, so, the synthesis of conducting polymers and study of their physical properties has been of prime importance. One of these conductive polymers is polyaniline. The current work is to prepare polyaniline (PANI) nanostructured material via four different preparation techniques which were sol-gel, rapid mixing, sonochemical and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) assisted polymerization. The morphology of the prepared PANI samples was determined using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The molecular structure of prepared PANI samples was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrical conductivity of the synthesized samples was assessed by using the four-probe method at room temperature. The surface area of the prepared samples was determined using Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET). The characterization results of the prepared PANI con?rm that the morphology, chemical composition, crystallinity, conductivity and surface area were altered signi?cantly as a consequence of its synthesis via atypical techniques.

  • Contemporary Polymer-Based Nanoparticle Systems for Photothermal Therapy

    摘要: Current approaches for the treatment of cancer, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery, are limited by various factors, such as inadvertent necrosis of healthy cells, immunological destruction, or secondary cancer development. Hyperthermic therapy is a promising strategy intended to mitigate many of the shortcomings associated with traditional therapeutic approaches. However, to utilize this approach effectively, it must be targeted to specific tumor sites to prevent adverse side effects. In this regard, photothermal therapy, using intravenously-administered nanoparticle materials capable of eliciting hyperthermic effects in combination with the precise application of light in the near-infrared spectrum, has shown promise. Many different materials have been proposed, including various inorganic materials such as Au, Ag, and Germanium, and C-based materials. Unfortunately, these materials are limited by concerns about accumulation and potential cytotoxicity. Polymer-based nanoparticle systems have been investigated to overcome limitations associated with traditional inorganic nanoparticle systems. Some of the materials that have been investigated for this purpose include polypyrrole, poly-(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polydopamine, and polyaniline. The purpose of this review is to summarize these contemporary polymer-based nanoparticle technologies to acquire an understanding of their current applications and explore the potential for future improvements.

  • The design of a polyaniline-decorated three dimensional W18O49 composite for full solar spectrum light driven photocatalytic removal of aqueous nitrite with high N2 selectivity

    摘要: Photocatalysis using solar energy is the most promising green technology for nitrite removal. However, effective photocatalytic performance is often challenged by the limited light absorption, utilization of expensive noble metals and undesired products (nitrate and ammonium). Here, we report for the first time that a full solar light response polyaniline-decorated three dimensional W18O49 composite (PANI@W18O49), a noble metal-free photocatalyst, possesses excellent photocatalytic activity for aqueous nitrite removal with high N2 selectivity. The prepared sample was thoroughly identified via XRD, Raman, FTIR, SEM, TEM, UV–vis DRS and PL. The catalytic results demonstrated that over 80% N2 selectivity (initial concentration 1.0 mM) was achieved through the PANI@W18O49 without sacrificial agent under 300 W Xe lamp irradiation for 60 min. Such advantages were attributed to the built-in junction between n-type W18O49 and p-type PANI, offering suitable redox levels of electron-hole pairs for NO2? reaction. The modification of PANI also benefited the light harvesting ability and activated carriers migration, the calculated rate constant of PANI@W18O49 is about four times as high as that of W18O49. The current study not only prepared a promising photocatalyst, but also provides new insights into improving the photocatalytic activity and N2 selectivity for nitrite treatment.

  • Layer-by-layer self-assembly of polyaniline nanofibers/TiO2 nanotubes heterojunction thin film for ammonia detection at room temperature

    摘要: In this paper, for the first time, polyaniline nanofibers/TiO2 nanotubes (PANI/TiO2) heterojunction thin film has been prepared on Pt interdigital electrodes by layer-by-layer self-assembly method and applied in room temperature NH3 detection. It is found that the optimal self-assembly layer number is three (PANI/TiO2-3) compared to one layer (PANI/TiO2-1) and five layers (PANI/TiO2-5). The PANI/TiO2-3 thin film sensor possesses superior response characteristics compared with our other PANI based sensors, including higher response value (336%@5 ppm NH3), acceptable response/recovery time (110 s/1086 s@5 ppm NH3), low detection limit (0.5 ppm), and remarkable selectivity. The enhanced gas sensing performances could be ascribed to the tremendous variation of the carrier concentration caused by the p-n junctions as well as the increased specific surface area and pore volume. This work not only offers a superb strategy to fabricate heterojunction thin film but also accelerates the development of room-temperature operable NH3 sensors.

  • Electrochromic Properties of Polyaniline-Based Hybrid Organic/Inorganic Materials

    摘要: Hybrid materials based on polyaniline (PAni) were obtained by in situ polymerization of aniline with chitosan and/or organically modified clay (nanomer I-24) in HCl. The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and direct current (DC) electrical conductivity. Thin films of PAni, PAni-clay, PAni-chitosan and PAni-chitosan-clay were prepared by casting a solution of each sample in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) onto indium tin oxide (ITO)/glass electrodes and their electrochromic properties were investigated. It was observed color variation from transparent yellow in the reduced state (E = ?0.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl), green in the intermediate state (E = 0.5 V) and dark blue in the oxidized state (E = 0.8 V) for all samples. The color changes of each material in function of the applied potential were tracked using the Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) system of colorimetry, in which the color change was much more significant for PAni-clay film.

  • Formation of Composite Polyaniline and Graphene Oxide by Physical Mixture Method

    摘要: The development of polyaniline and graphene oxide composites aims to join the unique properties of each material for aerospace applications. The present paper demonstrates an easy and quick method, compared to the ones found in the literature, to obtain a composite made with polyaniline doped with dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, a combination commonly called polyaniline, and graphene oxide. Nowadays, the most common studied methods are electrochemistry and in situ chemical polymerization. Differently from these methods, the films were obtained by a physical mixture of equimolar suspension of graphene oxide (4 mg/mL) with 3 concentrations of polyaniline powder: 25; 50 and 75%, being compared to pure graphene oxide and polyaniline. The morphology and structure behavior of all the films were studied, besides the bonding nature between both materials. The films were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The apparent interaction between graphene oxide corrugated sheets and polyaniline grains was verified by scanning electron microscopy images. It can be noticed, as the concentration of polyaniline increases, that more polymer was entrapped. To prove the formation of polyaniline/graphene oxide composite, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques demonstrated the changes on graphene oxide crystallographic plans and on the chemical bonding between polyaniline and graphene oxide, suggesting an interaction between polyaniline and graphene oxide, especially in the composite with 50% polyaniline/50% graphene oxide. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to highlight this effect through the increase in thermal stability. The method of physical mixture was efficient to obtain the polyaniline/graphene oxide composites.

  • Synergistic effect of Ag and ZnO nanoparticles on polyaniline incorporated epoxy/2pack coatings for splash zone applications

    摘要: In this work, epoxy/2pack coatings containing polyaniline (PANI) in combination with Ag and ZnO nanoparticles have been synthesized. The nanoparticles were incorporated with bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether epoxy resin and polyamino-amide. The mechanical properties of the fabricated coatings, such as the pendulum hardness, scratch resistance, and impact strength, were studied. The composition of the fabricated coatings was confirmed by attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy measurements. The thermal degradation and indentations were characterized through the use of differential scanning calorimetry and nano-indentation techniques, respectively. The surface morphology of the fabricated coatings was characterized using field-emission scanning electron microscopy. The synergistic effects of the Ag and ZnO nanoparticles on the corrosion resistance of the coatings after different exposure periods in 3.5% NaCl solutions were determined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. All the results were consistent with one another and confirmed that the addition of Ag and ZnO nanoparticles improved the mechanical properties of the coatings. This effect also led to a notable increase in the corrosion resistance of the PANI coatings.

  • Fabrication of the infrared variable emissivity electrochromic film based on polyaniline conducting polymer

    摘要: In this study, camphorsulfonic acid (CSA)-doped polyaniline (PANI) films have been prepared on the surface of an Au/nylon 66 porous flexible substrate by electrochemical deposition. The feature of the research was that utilize an Au layer deposited onto a porous flexible substrate to deposite CSA-doped PANI film for modulation infrared emissivity at first time. The morphology of Au/nylon 66 flexible substrate and PANI films and the electrochromic properties of CSA-doped PANI film were investigated in detail to obtain a PANI film that possesses highly infrared modulation ability. The emissivity variation Δε was achieved as of 0.225, 0.399, and 0.426 in the wavelength ranges of 3–5, 8–12, and 2.5–25 μm, respectively. The switching times of the CSA doped-PANI film for the coloration and bleaching are 6 s and 2.5 s, respectively. The IR electrochromic film investigated in this work may find an application in IR devices for IR camouflage and thermal control.

  • Effect of oxidants on morphology of interfacial polymerized polyaniline nanofibers and their electrorheological response

    摘要: Polyaniline (PANI) nano?bers were fabricated via an interfacial polymerization method at 0 °C by using 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (AMPSA) and ammonium peroxysulfate as a dopant and an oxidant, respectively. The molar ratio of the oxidant to aniline monomer in?uenced the morphology (shape and size) of the resulting PANI/AMPSA nano?ber and was investigated using a scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope images. The conductivity of synthesized PANI/AMPSA nano?ber changed when its synthetic conditions were varied. Electrorheological (ER) performance with and without an electric ?eld was tested for ER ?uids composed of either PANI nano?bers or normal PANI. Both conventional Bingham and Cho-Choi-Jhon models were utilized to describe shear stress behavior as a function of shear rate, especially under a low shear rate range. Finally, the ?bril morphology of PANI nano?bers showed a pronounced e?ect on the dispersion stability of the ER ?uid by measuring the transmittance as a function of sedimentation time via an optical analyzer of Turbiscan.
