  • Circular economy in RFID technology: analysis of recycling methods of RFID tags

    摘要: Circular Economy (CE) is one of the approaches which are intensively developed and tested in different areas of industry and services. The aim of this solution is to use many kinds of resources in a closed flow and to achieve as a small amount of waste as it is possible. One of the potential areas of using CE is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). In RFID systems tags are utilized in various forms. This paper addresses investigation of a recycling process of RFID tags. Different attachment methods of these tags were tested and then, a recycling procedure was prepared based on the obtained results in which adhesives are recommended to be used as an attaching material between a tag and an identified object. The mentioned procedure was evaluated with using paper-face RFID tags. It was confirmed applicability of the proposed solution. Moreover, the conducted research revealed that an adhesion force of the adhesive layers in the prepared RFID tags decreased in the most extent during the first recycling cycle. It was found that in order to preserve a high adhesion force of these layers it is suggested to place the tags on a clean surface.

    摘要: Design of a circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna on an ultrathin PET substrate of 125 μm thickness is proposed for RFID applications. Screen-printed silver coating of 25 μm thickness serves as the antenna metallization. Improved feed-design and systematic optimization of the antenna overcomes the intrinsic constrains of designing microstrip antennas on extremely thin substrate. Optimally designed feed excites a nearly square patch antenna with truncated corners to achieve good impedance and radiation characteristics. The proposed antenna exhibiting 48 MHz impedance bandwidth (896 MHz to 944 MHz) and a 16 MHz AR bandwidth (907-923 MHz), can serve as a potential candidate as a low cost UHF reader antenna for RFID applications.

  • Dynamic Behavioral Modeling of RF Power Amplifier Based on Time-Delay Support Vector Regression

    摘要: A new, dynamic behavioral modeling technique, based on a time-delay support vector regression (SVR) method, is presented in this paper. As an advanced machine learning algorithm, the SVR method provides an effective option for behavioral modeling of radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs), taking into account the effects of both device nonlinearity and memory. The basic theory of the proposed modeling technique is given, along with a detailed model extraction procedure. Unlike traditional artificial neural network (ANN) techniques, which take time to determine the best configuration of the model, the SVR method can obtain the optimal model in short time, using the grid-search technique. An example of an optimal SVR model selection applied to an RF PA is also given; the performance of the selected model presents a big improvement when compared with the default SVR model. Experimental validation is performed using an LDMOS PA, a single device gallium nitride (GaN) PA, and a Doherty GaN PA, revealing that the new modeling methodology provides very efficient and extremely accurate prediction. Compared with traditional Volterra models, canonical piecewise linear models, and ANN-based models, the proposed SVR model gives improved performance with reasonable complexity. In addition, it is shown that the model can predict accurately the behavior of the PA under input power levels that are different from those under which it is extracted.

    摘要: While the plasmonic nature of graphene at terahertz frequencies has been widely reported, investigations on the practical utility of graphene at the microwave frequencies are sparse. In this paper, an ink comprising graphene thick films of different concentrations (12.5 wt.%, 25 wt.% and 33 wt.%) is prepared for deposition, by screen printing. Detailed investigation of the surface morphology of the films using SEM and AFM reveals that the graphene films present a homogeneous dispersion of the filler with a comparatively lower surface roughness at higher concentrations, and negligible agglomerates. The films are then printed in between copper electrodes on FR-4 substrate, commonly used in RF circuits, and the measured scattering parameters analyzed.

    摘要: Measurements of radio-frequency (RF) electric fields using atomic sensors based on quantum-optical spectroscopy of Rydberg states in vapors has garnered significant interest in recent years for the establishment of atomic standards for RF electric fields and towards the development of novel RF sensing instrumentation. Here we describe recent work employing atomic sensors for sub-wavelength near-field imaging of a Ku-band horn antenna. We demonstrate near-field imaging capability at a spatial resolution of λ/10 and measurements over a 72 to 240 V/m field range using off-resonance AC-Stark shifts of a Rydberg-atom resonance. A fiber-coupled atomic-sensor probe is also employed in far-field measurements of a WR-90 standard gain horn.

In the summary, possibilities of radio-optical hybrid communication systems and their application in military areas have been defined.

    摘要: This paper proposed a novel method reconfiguring the polarization of the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with beam steering performance. During the process of liquid alteration between the two zones of the 3-D printed container, the proposed antenna performed with beam steering performance. What's more, the polarization was switched with the beam steering process. The proposed design is suitable for the application as a RFID reader.

    摘要: In this paper, a novel widely linear minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) anti-collision receiver for passive ultra high frequency (UHF) multi-antenna radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems is proposed. By establishing that real-world tag signals are essentially noncircular in the complex filed, the proposed widely linear estimator is proven to have better performance in recovering data from collision when compared with its linear counterpart. Simulations on tags in conflicting response is conducted, justifying the performance advantages of the proposed receiver over the conventional linear one.

    摘要: In order to solve the problem that the traditional street lamps cannot be controlled dynamically according to the specific conditions of the road at night, an intelligent street lamp control system based on speed and sensor detection information is designed to adjust the number of street lamps in front of the vehicle which are turned on in advance, including the illumination level of street lamps. The system combines Radio frequency identification technology to read the tag information of the vehicle through the reader installed on the street lamp and calculate the driving speed and the number of lamps to be turned on. The sensors are installed on the street lamp node to collect the environmental illumination and the vehicle driving information in real time. According to the fuzzy control strategy, the information is analyzed and calculated and the illumination level of the street lamp is adjusted accordingly. MATLAB simulation results show that the system can adjust the illumination level of the lamp quickly according to the result of the sensors, thus reducing the energy consumption of the system.

  • -Distribution Dual-Hop RF/FSO Systems

    摘要: In this correspondence, we investigate the physical-layer security of a mixed radio frequency/free space optical (RF/FSO) dual-hop communication system for both fixed- and variable-gain relaying schemes. More specifically, we only assume that the eavesdropping happens at the RF link because the optical link has high security. We assume that all RF channels suffer from η–μ fading, while the FSO link experiences M-distributed fading. Then, we derive some analytical results for the average secrecy rate and the secrecy outage probability.
