  • Voltage Noise and Jitter Analysis for Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography using KTa1-xNbxO3 Deflector

    摘要: This paper describes voltage noise and jitter analysis for the depth deviation of a point spread function in a swept source optical coherence tomography system using a KTa1-xNbxO3 deflector. An interference waveform with voltage noise and jitter was simulated according to a previous report. Typical values for the voltage noise ΔVTYP and jitter ΔtTYP were also obtained from a previous report and experiment. It was determined that the depth deviation is limited by the ΔtTYP of the system. Therefore, the quality of the tomographic image can be efficiently improved by reducing jitter.

  • Application of kinetic flux vector splitting scheme for solving viscous quantum hydrodynamical model of semiconductor devices

    摘要: In this article, one-dimensional viscous quantum hydrodynamical model of semiconductor devices is numerically investigated. The model treats the propagation of electrons in a semiconductor device as the flow of a charged compressible fluid. It plays an important role in predicting the behavior of electron flow in semiconductor devices. The nonlinear viscous quantum hydrodynamic models contain Euler-type equations for density and current, viscous and quantum correction terms, and a Poisson equation for electrostatic potential. Due to high nonlinearity of model equations, numerical solution techniques are applied to obtain their solutions. The proposed numerical scheme is a splitting scheme based on the kinetic flux-vector splitting (KFVS) method for the hyperbolic step, and a semi-implicit Runge-Kutta method for the relaxation step. The KFVS method is based on the direct splitting of macroscopic flux functions of the system on the cell interfaces. The second order accuracy of the scheme is achieved by using MUSCL-type initial reconstruction and Runge-Kutta time stepping method. Several case studies are considered. For validation, the results of current scheme are compared with those obtained from the splitting scheme based on the NT central scheme. The effects of various parameters such as device length, viscosities, different doping and voltage are analyzed. The accuracy, efficiency and simplicity of the proposed KFVS scheme validates its generic applicability to the given model equations.

  • Experimental repetitive quantum channel simulation

    摘要: Universal control of quantum systems is a major goal to be achieved for quantum information processing, which demands thorough understanding of fundamental quantum mechanics and promises applications of quantum technologies. So far, most studies concentrate on ideally isolated quantum systems governed by unitary evolutions, while practical quantum systems are open and described by quantum channels due to their inevitable coupling to environment. Here, we experimentally simulate arbitrary quantum channels for an open quantum system, i.e. a single photonic qubit in a superconducting quantum circuit. The arbitrary channel simulation is achieved with minimum resource of only one ancilla qubit and measurement-based adaptive control. By repetitively implementing the quantum channel simulation, we realize an arbitrary Liouvillian for a continuous evolution of an open quantum system for the first time. Our experiment provides not only a testbed for understanding quantum noise and decoherence, but also a powerful tool for full control of practical open quantum systems.

  • Office light control moving toward automation and humanization: a literature review

    摘要: This review was designed to survey the development of control technology and strategies for office light environment from 1993 to 2017 by documentary research. Search engines were applied and 100 publications were selected and analyzed with the focus on energy saving and visual comfort as well as related areas, such as control technology and strategies, shading, light sources and simulation tools. It was found that general tendency in office light control technology and strategies moves towards creating more occupant-friendly and less energy consumption convergence and remarkable progress has been made in computer- and network-based integrated light control technology. Therefore, it could be predicted that in the next decade artificial intelligence and network-based office light control technology will be further developed into a complete automatic control system. Moreover, it is likely that, with the further exploration of Big Data, light control system could be merged with other control systems in an office building, such as heating, cooling, humidity, and ventilation system, forming self-learning and self-evolution control system.

  • Gaussian boson sampling using threshold detectors

    摘要: We study what is arguably the most experimentally appealing boson sampling architecture: Gaussian states sampled with threshold detectors. We show that, in this setting, the probability of observing a given outcome is related to a matrix function that we name the Torontonian, which plays an analogous role to the permanent or the Hafnian in other models. We also prove that, provided that the probability of observing two or more photons in a single output mode is sufficiently small, our model remains intractable to simulate classically under standard complexity-theoretic conjectures. Finally, we leverage the mathematical simplicity of the model to introduce a physically motivated, exact sampling algorithm for all boson sampling models that employ Gaussian states and threshold detectors.

    摘要: Having 6500 integrated sensors and a wide network of embedded systems, the ADREAM building can be categorized as one of the prototype smart buildings of France. As needs for intelligent management of energy are growing, the associated project provides a multidisciplinary platform of experimentation, developing solutions for efficient Energy Networks, HVAC Systems, Photovoltaics, and Smart Grids. This paper provides the overview of the project along with three different modeling techniques, simulating the thermal behavior of the building and the functioning of the different energy systems. A thermal model of the building was developed and calibrated for energy consumption analysis and prediction, using the software Pleiades+Comfie. A “black box” model was developed using artificial neural networks for the simulation of energy system parameters and the exploration of efficient control strategies. The last method provides the overview of developing an all-inclusive physical model with equivalent Matlab/Simulink for simulating the global functioning of the building and its HVAC systems. The conclusion addresses the utility of exploring and combining different types of models for optimizing the energy management of Smart Buildings.

    摘要: SISMA software is a numerical programmed for the design of SIS mixers with single junction or junction arrays. It is based on quantum mixing theory and a proximation of the nonlinearity up to 2nd harmonic. A new fixed-point iteration algorithm is designed to solve the large-signal nonlinear equation, which enables simulations of SIS mixers with distributed series-connected junction arrays, removing the limitation that only parallel-connected junction arrays can be simulated. The temperature and frequency-dependent complex surface impedances of various superconducting materials can be calculated in the simulation of thin-film superconducting passive components. The graphic interface of this software is a beneficial to fast optimization of the mixer circuit design.

  • Ultrafast defect dynamics: A new approach to all optical broadband switching employing amorphous selenium thin films

    摘要: Optical switches offer higher switching speeds than electronics, however, in most cases utilizing the interband transitions of the active medium for switching. As a result, the signal suffers heavy losses. In this article, we demonstrate a simple and yet efficient ultrafast broadband all-optical switching on ps timescale in the sub-bandgap region of the a-Se thin film, where the intrinsic absorption is very weak. The optical switching is attributed to short-lived transient defects that form localized states in the bandgap and possess a large electron-phonon coupling. We model these processes through first principles simulation that are in agreement with the experiments.

  • Silicon Film Deposition Using a Gas-Jet Plasma-Chemical Method: Experiment and Gas-Dynamic Simulation

    摘要: This paper presents the results of an experimental study, numerical calculation, and analysis within the framework of a gas-dynamic model of silicon ?lm deposition by a gas-jet plasma-chemical method. A numerical model of gas mixtures ?owing out of an annular nozzle unit and into a reactor is developed, and it allows one to determine a ?lm thickness distribution over the surface of substrates placed in the reactor and satisfactorily describes the experimental data obtained.

  • Magnetooptical Visualization and Mapping of Magnetic Stray Fields over the Surface of Composite Permanent Magnets Using Gadolinium–Cobalt Amorphous Films

    摘要: Stray fields of magnetic systems with a known degree of structural and magnetic nonuniformities have been mapped using indicator amorphous films with a perpendicular anisotropy. The characteristic magnetooptical patterns have been determined, which correspond to the distribution of the magnetic-field component normal to the plane of the indicator films. The theoretical patterns of model magnetic systems that are similar to the studied systems in the degree of the structural and magnetic nonuniformity have been calculated. The validity of the magnetooptical visualization has been confirmed by comparison of the experimental and theoretical patterns. The possibility of the express monitoring of the parameters of the magnetic system has been shown using a laboratory model of a magnetooptical visualizer by the observation of the magnetooptical contrast of gadolinium–cobalt indicator films under the action of an ac magnetic field.
