  • Improvement of nickel nanocomposite coatings by combining zinc-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

    摘要: Pure nickel and compound of nickel coatings (Ni-TiO2 and Ni-Zn/TiO2) were coated on the steel material using Watts bath with the electrodeposition conditions. Effect of the nanoparticle type and current density on the coating structure, surface morphology of the coating, hardness of the coating, and the corrosion properties of the coatings are presented. Phase and elemental analysis of the coatings were carried out by XRD and EDS techniques, respectively. SEM was used to investigate the surface morphology of the coatings, and Vickers microhardness values were measured to determine the hardness variation of the coatings. NaCl solution (3.5 wt%) was used to evaluate the corrosion properties of the coatings by the potentiodynamic polarization tests. Corrosion current density of 2.890 μA/cm2 for pure nickel coating was improved to 0.379 μA/cm2 by the coating of Zn-doped TiO2 nanoparticles at the 7A/dm2 current density. Microhardness of the Zn-doped TiO2 coating was improved compared to the pure Ni coating.

  • Composite BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 with core-shell nanostructure for piezoelectric and ferromagnetic applications

    摘要: In this work, we report on the synthesis and characterization of BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 biphasic composite with core-shell structure. This artificial core (BNT-BT0.08)/shell (CoFe2O4) heterostructure was prepared by sol-gel method and the resulting composite was characterized in term of microstructure, dielectric, piezoelectric and magnetic properties. BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 sintered ceramic shows high permittivity (ε′ ≥ 30) and high dielectric losses (tan δ ≥ 10) in the low frequency range (ν ≤ 104 Hz), remnant polarization (Pr) of ~7.7 μC/cm2 and, remanent magnetization (Mr) of 24 emu/g at 5 K and of 14 emu/g, at room temperature. The present study reveals that the ferroelectric, piezoelectric and magnetic properties of this new architectured composite depend on the amount of each component and, can be tailored by adjusting their synthesis conditions. BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 core-shell material investigated in this work provides a novel way to exploit new applications for the multifunctional composite, such as piezoelectric sensor, magnetoelectronic sensors and data storage devices.

  • Fabrication and Photoluminescence Properties of Monodispersed SiO2@SrAl2Si2O8:Eu2+ Core-Shell Submicron Spheres

    摘要: Nanocrystalline SrAl2Si2O8:Eu2+ phosphor layers were coated on the surface of preformed submicron silica spheres by sol-gel method. The resulted monodispersed SiO2@SrAl2Si2O8:Eu2+ core-shell submicron spherical phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence spectra. The XRD results demonstrated that the SrAl2Si2O8:Eu2+ layers began to crystallize on the SiO2 spheres at 900 °C and the crystallinity increased with raising the annealing temperature. The obtained monodispersed core-shell spherical phosphors have perfect spherical shape with narrow size distribution (average size 500 nm). The Eu2+ shows a strong photoluminescence (dominated by 4f65d1 → 4f7 red emission at 390 nm) due to an efficient energy transfer from vanadate groups to Eu2+. The photoluminescence intensity of Eu2+ increases with raising the annealing temperature.

  • Studies of the characteristic and reaction mechanism of silica xerogel by sol–gel method catalyzed by alkylbiguanide as a strong organic base

    摘要: Treatment of tetraethyl orthosilicate with 1,2-diisopropyl-4,4,5,5-tetra-methyl biguanide (A) as a highly strong base immediately gave silica gel by means of hydrolysis and condensation reaction at room temperature. The resulting wet gel was transparent and showed high density after dryness. From the results of gas adsorption and BET analysis, silica gel obtained by the treatment of strong base A had larger specific surface area and pore volume than silica gel that was prepared by a regular or less strong base such as tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). FTIR analysis revealed that the peak strength of Si-OH bond at 960 cm?1 of silica gel prepared by highly strong base A was smaller than that of TMAH. To understand the mechanism behind such difference, a mixture of diphenylsilandiol and dimethoxydiphenylsilane were reacted with highly strong base A, and the resulting products comprised linear-chain siloxane oligomer and octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane. Our results indicate that silanol generated by hydrolysis of TEOS is activated by A and the activated silanol undergoes subsequent direct reaction with unhydrolyzed alkoxy silane to give condensation products in ethanol. Such a direct polycondensation between silanol and alkoxy silane brought by highly strong base A led to three-dimensional crosslinking having a higher bulk density of silica gel.

  • Structural and dielectric properties of BaTi0.5 (Co0.33 Mo0.17) O3 perovskite ceramic

    摘要: The polycrystalline sample BaTi0.5 (Co0.33 Mo0.17) O3 was synthesized by the sol-gel method. The effect of replacing titanium by cobalt and molybdenum on the structural and electrical properties of our compound was investigated. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) at room temperature showed a pure tetragonal perovskite. The electrical response was studied by complex impedance spectroscopy over a broad frequency range (30 - 106 Hz) at different temperatures. The values of ac conductivity were fitted by Jonscher’s law σ(ω) = σDC + Aωn and supported by the correlated barrier hopping (CBH) mechanism. Complex impedance analysis confirmed the existence of an electrical relaxation in the compound. The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss decreased with the increase in frequency. This behavior can be explained by the presence of the Maxwell–Wagner type of polarization responsible for the electric conduction. The modulus plots were characterized by the Havriliak–Negami (H-N) and the empirical Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts (K.W.W.) functions. The Normalized plot of the imaginary part of modulus indicates that the dynamical processes are temperature independent.

  • Influencing Optical and Magnetic Properties of NiCr2O4 by the Incorporation of Fe(III) for Cr(III) Following Epoxide Gel Synthesis

    摘要: With the objective of modifying the optical and magnetic properties of the spinel NiCr2O4, incorporation of 50 mol.% of Fe3+ for Cr3+ has been attempted following an epoxide-mediated gel synthesis. From the Le Bail re?nement of powder x-ray diffraction patterns of xerogels after calcination at 1000°C for 2 h in Fd-3 m space group, the lattice parameter of resultant spinels showed a marginal increase from 8.3117 (21) for NiCr2O4 to 8.3177 (26) A? for NiCrFeO4. The square morphology of the crystallites was observed in scanning electron microscopic images, and the energy-dispersive spectroscopy results con?rmed the uniform presence of Ni, Cr and Fe in these samples. Lattice fringes in high-resolution transmission electron microscopic images could be related to the cubic spinel structure. The optical band gap was found to decrease from 1.68 for NiCr2O4 to 1.41 eV for NiCrFeO4. Substitution of iron for chromium was found to reduce its catalytic ef?ciency for photo-degradation of aqueous rhodamine-6G (Rh-6G) dye solution under UV–visible radiation.
