Effectiveness of a combination therapy of traditional Chinese medicine and CO 2 laser treatment for condyloma acuminatum
摘要: Background: Condyloma acuminatum (CA) is both highly infectious and frequently recurring and requires long-term, repeated treatments, which seriously impact the physical and psychological health of patients. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of a combination therapy of traditional Chinese medicine and CO2 laser on CA and the relationship between CA relapse and cellular immunity. Methods: The study cohort consisted of 160 CA patients who underwent ambulatory treatment between January 2017 and January 2019 in the Department of Dermatology and Venerology of our hospital. The 160 patients were randomly divided into two groups: a combination therapy group (80 cases), who underwent CO2-laser treatment followed by three courses of oral traditional Chinese medicine and a control group (80 cases), who were only treated with the CO2 laser to remove warts. The efficacy of the CO2-laser treatment was evaluated on the first month after treatment and relapse was evaluated at monthly follow-ups for 6 months. Additionally, 20 normal volunteers were also recruited. Three months before and after treatment, the cellular immunity factors of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets, including CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+ and IL-2, were detected and compared between CA patients and normal volunteers, the combination therapy and control groups, and the relapse and cure groups to determine whether there were statistical differences. Results: Compared with normal volunteers, CA patients exhibited lower CD4+, CD4+/CD8+, and IL-2 levels and higher CD8+ levels (P < 0.05). In addition, the rates of relapse for the combination therapy and control groups were 25.7 and 40.8%, respectively. However, the comprehensive immunity factors showed no statistical difference (P > 0.05) before treatment. Three months after treatment, factors including CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ were higher in the combination therapy group than in the control group (P < 0.05), and CD8+ and IL-2 showed no statistical difference (P > 0.05); factors including CD4+, CD4+/CD8+, and IL-2 were higher and CD8+ was lower in the cure group than in the relapse group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The therapy combination of traditional Chinese medicine and CO2-laser treatment can reduce the relapse rate of CA. It might be traditional Chinese medicine combined with CO2-laser treatment regulate liver meridian, Qi and blood, restore the balance between various subgroups.

Selective and sensitive determination of celastrol in traditional Chinese medicine based on molecularly imprinted polymers modified Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots optosensing materials
摘要: In this work, we proposed a facile strategy to prepare molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) modified Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) as optosensing materials via sol-gel polymerization for specific recognition of celastrol (Cel) in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Firstly, L-Cysteine (L-Cys) modified Mn-doped ZnS QDs (L-Cys@Mn-ZnS) was used as imprinting substrate. The amino and carboxyl groups on the surface of Mn-ZnS QDs can provide more binding sites for imprinting polymerization. Then, the fluorescent MIPs was synthesized in the presence of L-Cys@Mn-ZnS QDs, template celastrol, 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) and ammonium hydroxide in the ethanol-water (9/1, v/v) solution. The morphology and structure of the products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The resulting MIPs functionalized Mn-doped ZnS QDs (denoted as MIPs@L-Cys@Mn-ZnS QDs) had higher imprinting factor of 14.19 and significant selectivity. The MIPs@L-Cys@Mn-ZnS QDs as fluorescent probe exhibited sensitive response to Cel in the linear range from 0.1 μM to 3.5 μM and the limit of detection was estimated to be 35.2 nM. The probe was also applied for the detection of Cel in traditional Chinese medicine with recovery ranged from 88.0% to 105.0%. The results confirmed that MIPs@L-Cys@Mn-ZnS QDs could efficiently and specifically capture Cel from actual complex traditional Chinese medicine samples.

Enhanced Synergetic Catalytic Effect of Mo 2 C/NCNTs@Co Heterostructures in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: Fine-Tuned Energy Level Alignment and Efficient Charge Transfer Behavior
摘要: This study proposed a new ballpoint connector-protected salt-oil-salt liquid phase microextraction for extraction and enrichment of trace rhein and chrysophanol in rhubarb prior to determination of the analytes by high performance liquid chromatography. In this study, a handy ballpoint connector (between ballpoint tip and ink chamber) was used as extraction device, in which its cavity was filled with n-octanol, and the bare n-octanol in its two opening ends was covered with a thin layer of sodium chloride film. The design subtly assembled salt film onto ballpoint connector for extraction and enrichment, which greatly improved the enrichment factors of the target analytes. Moreover, the novel procedure and its extraction mechanism were described and analyzed, and several crucial parameters reflecting the extraction effect were investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, high enrichment factors (247 and 127), good linearities with r ≥ 0.9998, limits of detection (0.6–1.1 ng/mL), relative standard deviations of intra- and interday (2.2–8.8% and 4.3–8.9%), and average recoveries (97.6–98.1%), were obtained, respectively. The proposed method can not only eliminate the negative effects from viscosity and ion strength at high salt concentration of sample phase, but also make salting-out effect be focused on small area so as to maximize the extraction effect.

Efficacy of laser acupuncture for carpal tunnel syndrome
摘要: Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy that causes hand discomfort and work disability. Since no satisfactory conventional treatments for mild to moderate CTS exist, we apply complementary alternative medicine (CAM) to this problem. Laser acupuncture (LA), a new, non-invasive therapy which uses low-level-laser therapy (LLLT) in acupuncture could help to manage CTS. However, only one small randomized, double-blind and crossover trial had been conducted, which is not enough to provide an evidence-based assessment of the effects of LA on CTS. Objectives: The aim of this study protocol is to investigate the efficacy of LA therapy on patients with mild to moderate CTS through sonography of the median nerve and offer clear parameters of LLLT. Methods: This study protocol is a prospective double-blind randomized controlled trial. Forty subjects aged 20 to 80 years old and diagnosed as having mild to moderate CTS will be randomly assigned to the intervention group (real LA, 3-sessions a week for 2 weeks) and control group (sham LA, 3-sessions a week for 2 weeks). All subjects will be asked to wear night splints as the fundamental management approach. The laser parameters will include a wavelength of 808 nm, power output of 300 mW and power density of 300 mW/mm2, with ten seconds of treatment for each acupuncture point (PC4, PC6, PC7, PC8, LI4, LI10, LI11, HT3, HT7, and LU10). Sham LA treatment will be applied without any laser power output. The primary outcome will be based the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire and secondary outcomes included a visual analog scale, cross sectional area of median nerve by sonography and electrophysiological test before interventions and after 2, 4, 8, 12 weeks postintervention.

Recent quantitative research of near infrared spectroscopy in traditional Chinese medicine analysis
摘要: Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have been used in China to prevent and cure diseases for centuries. Due to the complexity of TCMs, fast and highly efficient techniques are required to develop their quality control. Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been widely applied in TCM analysis for both nonpolar and polar components. This review describes an overview of experimental conditions (spectra pretreatments and multivariate techniques) investigated in NIRS for TCM components that are related to individual compounds such as lipids, essential oils, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins and carbohydrates. Their potential in the separation of TCMs using relevant applications with a particular focus on quantitative analysis is also demonstrated.
