  • Ellipsometric study on optical properties of hydrogen plasma-treated aluminum-doped ZnO thin film

    摘要: Aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films were prepared by radio frequency (RF) sputtering at room temperature, and then post-treated by hydrogen (H2) plasma at different durations. After H2 plasma treatment under the condition of 10 W, 200 °C and 3.0 Hours, the resistivity showed a dramatically decrease from 1.6 Ω cm to 3.4 × 10?3 Ω cm, while the transmittance at the wavelength of 550 nm was improved from 90.5% to 96.0%. The optical constants of H2 plasma-treated AZO thin films were detailed characterized by a varied angle spectroscopic ellipsometer. The results show that the refractive index n decreases in the entire measured wavelength range of 350–1100 nm, while the extinction coefficient k decreases in the short wavelength range and changes negligibly at the long wavelength range. These results can provide guidelines for the design and optimization of AZO thin film-based optoelectronic applications.

  • Effect of O <sub/>2</sub> Flow Rate on Properties of Mn–SnO <sub/>2</sub> /Ag/Mn–SnO <sub/>2</sub> Multilayer Film

    摘要: Multilayer films with Mn–SnO2 (MTO)/Ag/Mn–SnO2 (MTO) hybrid structure were prepared on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate using a DC/RF sputtering system at room temperature. The optical, electrical, and structural properties of the thus-synthesized multilayer films were systematically investigated as a function of the O2/(Ar + O2) flow rate. The transmittance of the MTO/Ag/MTO multilayer films at 550 nm increased gradually from 83.1% to 87.9% and the sheet resistance (Rs) of the multilayer films increased from 6.3 to 9.8 Ω/sq upon increasing the O2/(Ar + O2) flow rate. The highest figure of merit (ΦTC) of the MTO/Ag/MTO multilayer film was 45.7 × 10?3 Ω?1 at an O2/(Ar + O2) flow rate of 2.8%. X-ray photoelectron spectra of multilayer films obtained with different O2/(Ar + O2) flow rates showed no noticeable variation.

  • Simultaneous optimization of transmittance and resistivity for γ-CuI thin films via an iodination method at mild reaction condition

    摘要: In p-type γ-CuI thin films synthesized by the iodination of Cu layers with iodine vapor, a frosted-glass-like appearance with a rough surface is usually obtained, which makes it difficult to apply the γ-CuI films to transparent electronics. This paper proposes an innovative method for the preparation of highly transparent p-type γ-CuI films. A chemical reaction between Cu thin films and iodine vapor, combined with the layer-by-layer process at a temperature between room temperature and 120°C are found to result in highly transparent polycrystalline γ-CuI films. The root-mean-square roughness values of the γ-CuI films prepared by this method are 8.5–21.2 nm, which are smaller than those for the γ- CuI films synthesized by the conventional method. The microstructure and optoelectronic properties of the γ-CuI thin films are sensitive to the temperature of iodine vapor. A high transmittance (80%) of the film obtained at an iodine vapor temperature of 80°C has a low resistivity of 5×10?2 Ω cm and high mobility of 8.7 cm2/Vs. Moreover, a boosted figure of merit is realized due to the simultaneously low resistivity and high transparency: its value jumps from ~488 to ~1630 MΩ-1.

  • A Novel Method for Compensating Temperature Measurement Error Caused by Dust Using Infrared Thermal Imager

    摘要: The dust generated in industrial processes has a serious impact on the accuracy of infrared thermometry, which is also the main reason for the limited use of infrared industrial temperature measurement methods applications. To reduce the influence of dust on infrared temperature measurement, this paper proposes a new method for compensating measurement error caused by dust. Firstly, the source of temperature measurement error caused by dust is analyzed, and a compensation method, in which the dust transmittance is important but difficult to determine, is proposed based on the principle of infrared temperature measurement. Then, to solve the difficulty of determining dust transmittance, we define a spatial temperature level co-occurrence matrix and a neighboring temperature level dependence matrix which can be utilized to extract the infrared thermal image’s texture features affected by dust. Finally, by integrating stacked denoising auto-encoder with optimized parameters and support vector regression, a dust transmittance model is established to determine dust transmittance based on the extracted features. Experimental results indicate that the proposed compensation method can reduce the influence of dust on infrared thermal imager’s accuracy effectively.

  • Characteristics of Vanadium Oxide Thin Films Fabricated by Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering for Smart Window Application

    摘要: Vanadium oxide (VOx) thin films were deposited by an unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering system with a vanadium metal target and O2 reaction gas, and thermally treated at various annealing temperatures. In this work, the structural, electrical, and optical properties of the fabricated VOx films with various annealing temperatures were experimentally investigated. The UBM sputter grown VOx thin films exhibited amorphous structure, and had a very weak peak of V2O5 (002) owing to very thin films. However, the crystallite size of VOx films increased with increasing annealing temperature. The surface roughness of VOx films and average transmittance decreased with increasing annealing temperature. The resistivity of VOx films also decreased with increasing annealing temperature, while the electrical properties of films improved.

  • Why environmental dust influences solar energy harvesting

    摘要: In order to minimize dust effects on optical surfaces related to the solar energy harvesting, adhesion between the active surface of energy harvesting device and the dust particles needs to be lowered. Consequently, the pinning force for the dust particles reduces, and the dust particles can be removed via creating the self‐cleaning effect. The wetting state of the active surface becomes critical towards reducing the pinning force. In this case, hydrophobic surfaces remain favorable reducing the dust adhesion on the surfaces. In the present perspective, characteristics of the environmental dust particles and their effects in humid air ambient are presented. The methods for dust removal from the surfaces and the optical transmittance reduction by the dust particles are discussed. The challenges and future perspectives of surface texturing towards achieving hydrophobicity and optical transmittance are also introduced.

  • IoT Based Framework: Mathematical Modelling and Analysis of Dust Impact on Solar Panels

    摘要: The solar photovoltaic performance is governed by manifold parameters viz. temperature, irradiance, dust on solar module, photoactive material, panel orientation. Among these dust is a critical impediment, as its accumulation on panel surface degrades its productivity; while frequent cleaning sessions affect module's life and result into PV destruction. Accordingly, the need to know dust thickness responsible for deteriorating panel's capability and adequate cleaning time of solar panels to produce optimum yields is requisite. This paper aims to discern a right cleaning time, owing to a particular dust thickness so as to conserve the panel efficiency using internet of things (IoT). The mathematical correlations of PV efficiency and current with thickness of accumulated dust are derived using linear regression. Further, these equations are associated with an IoT-based platform which remotely monitors and records PV output current; thereafter dust thickness corresponding to a significant current reduction is estimated. For this, experimental data of 46 inverters with total 114,819.30 kWh productions in a month with an average of 4416.13 kWh/day is accessed and the results pertaining to mathematical analysis exhibit a decline in current by 1 A with 5.51 × 10^{-3} mm thickness of dust.

  • Nonlinear transmittance of a diffusion-doped single crystal ZnSe:Fe <sup>2+</sup> at a wavelength of 2940?nm at low and room temperature

    摘要: The nonlinear transmittance of a single crystal ZnSe:Fe2+ sample was measured at low and room temperature during the action of a laser pulse with a wavelength of 2940 nm. It was found that in a strong field (fluence 1.3 J cm?2, a laser pulse duration of 320 ns, a peak intensity of 4.1 MW cm?2), the sample transmittance is about 70% at room and 77% at low temperature. In a single crystal ZnSe:Fe2+ sample at a fluence of 1.3 J cm?2 and a spot diameter of high-power radiation of about 0.54 mm, at the temperature ?168 °C lasing was observed along the surface of the sample, when feedback was provided by scattering from the matted surface of the sample. This effect should be taken into account when nonlinear transmittance measurements are fulfilled of a diffusion doped a single crystal ZnSe:Fe2+.

  • Image defogging approach based on incident light frequency

    摘要: Aiming at solving the problem of color distortion existing in the dark original pruning algorithm, an improved transmittance computation approach separated for each color channel is proposed. Firstly, the influence of the incident light frequency on the transmittance of each color channel is analyzed based on Beer-Lambert law. Meanwhile, the proportional relationship among the transmittance of each channel is deduced. Secondly, the image is resumed to improve the operation efficiency. After that, the image is pretreated to get the refined transmittance. Finally, the transmittance of all the color channels is obtained through the proportional relationship. And the corresponding transmittance is used to recover the image on each channel. Thus, the image defogging is realized. We evaluate the proposed algorithm qualitatively and quantitatively. From the subjective results, the proposed algorithm has better visual effect than that of the other algorithms, and our method has more details compared to the other two methods. While from the objective results, the proposed approach can achieve natural image color without high saturation, and reduce the running time by 4 to 10 times compared with several state-of-art algorithms. The proposed algorithm can obtain a higher color fidelity and a better image color in terms of e, r and H. The proposed method is obviously superior to those of the others in terms of no-reference quality evaluator in spatial domain and has the highest average PSNR value.

  • Photothermal/day lighting performance analysis of a multifunctional solid compound parabolic concentrator for an active solar greenhouse roof

    摘要: Currently, the excess light above a light saturation point cannot be harnessed for plant growth in conventional greenhouse covers. In this study, we developed a solid compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) cover for use in greenhouses to convert excess light into heat. Optical simulation software was used to track the sunlight at different incident angles over time. We also conducted experiments to determine the transmittance and heating power of the solid CPC coating under real weather conditions. The maximum instantaneous thermal efficiency and thermal energy of a single solid CPC cover plate were 32.2% and 353 W/m2, respectively. The simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental output power and the trend of the actual transmittance of the covering material. The transmittance of the covering material was low when the midday sun was intense, and the transmittance was relatively high in the morning and afternoon. The variation of red and blue light in the greenhouse with the spectrum was analyzed at the same time. Studies have shown that this new greenhouse covering material can better adjust the brightness, make the illumination in the greenhouse more uniform, and thus improve the thermal environment in the greenhouse. The heat pipes converted excess light into heat, thereby achieving comprehensive utilization of solar light and heat.
