The combination of GP and MAF effectively reduces the surface roughness and improves the surface quality of SLM AlSi10Mg alloy. The GP reduces surface roughness from 7 μm to about 0.6 μm, and MAF further reduces it to a minimum of 0.155 μm. The surface hardness after GP is higher, but MAF reduces the hardness of the GP surface.

The study is limited to AlSi10Mg alloy prepared by SLM technology and focuses on the side of the samples parallel to the building direction. The effectiveness of MAF may vary with different materials and sample orientations.
