The study demonstrated the possibility of optical properties tuning of ZnxCd1-xS:Mn QDs by changing the size and composition. The mechanisms of trap state PL were proposed, and the behavior of PL intensity was associated with the proposed emission mechanism. Doping with manganese introduced a new PL band, indicating effective excitation transfer to Mn centers.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Aqueous synthesis in gelatin was used to prepare ZnxCd1-xS:Mn QDs with varying sizes by changing synthesis conditions such as the amount of precursors and temperature.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Photographic inert gelatin was used as the polymer matrix. Manganese source (MnCl2?4H2O) was added to establish 10 mol. % impurity concentration in QDs solution.

DRON-3 diffractometer for XRD measurements, USB2000 spectrophotometer for UV-Vis absorption spectra, MDR-23 diffraction monochromator and R928P photomultiplier for PL measurements.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
QDs sizes were varied by changing synthesis conditions, such as temperature and the amount of precursors. Gelatin matrix was partially removed for XRD measurements.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Particle sizes were estimated using Scherrer formula, Kayanuma formula, DLF equation, and Pesika method. Optical characteristics were analyzed based on UV-Vis absorption and PL measurements.
