Nanoparticles were formed in both pure Cu and Cu80Zr20 thin films under specific dewetting conditions, with similar size, shape, and composition. The addition of Zr to the Cu thin film improved the formation of nanoparticles during the dewetting process. The dewetting mechanism for metallic glasses is different from that for metal thin films.
