研究目的
Investigating the effect of laser power, cutting speed, assist gas type and assist gas pressure on the cutting quality of Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) using CO2 laser.
研究成果
The selection of suitable input parameters is crucial in determining the cutting quality of UHSS. Nitrogen as an assist gas leads to better kerf width formation, while oxygen produces better perpendicularity. Lower gas pressure provides a better outcome for both gases in terms of cutting quality. Thermal exposure and laser power density significantly influence the outcome.
研究不足
The study focused on a specific thickness of UHSS (1.7 mm) and used only CO2 laser cutting. The effects of other laser types or thicknesses were not explored.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study used a full factorial design with 54 runs to evaluate the cutting quality of
2:7 mm thickness 22MnB5 boron steel. The parameters varied were laser power, cutting speed, assist gas type, and assist gas pressure. Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Rectangular samples were extracted from the hot pressed B Pillar of a local car manufacturer.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
A 4 kW Mitsubishi HVII 3015 CO2 laser cutting machine was used, with nitrogen and oxygen of
4:9% purity as assist gases. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The laser spot size was
5:2 mm with the lens focus distance of 5 mm. The cutting path was 20 mm with a 5 mm gap. Data Analysis Methods:
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the contribution of each factor to the responses.
