The FunBoG is suitable for analyzing energy consumption and exchange dynamics of AM-machines. G-code-driven simulation approach significantly improves simulation accuracy. The use of power data base and random power value generation reduces simulation time. Multi-parts configuration in SLM process shows better energy performance than single part configuration.

The study focuses on the machine level of AM, excluding the production of powders, subtractive post-processing, or other life cycle energy consumptions. The simulation accuracy may be affected by simplifications and assumptions in model creation.
