The WO3/g-C3N4 binary composites showed enhanced photocatalytic performance under visible light due to their porous morphology, enlarged specific surface areas, and effective charge carrier separation. A 'Z-scheme' mechanism was proposed to explain the enhanced photocatalytic activity.

The study focuses on the photocatalytic degradation of RhB and MB under visible light, and the mechanism is speculated based on experimental results. The actual application in real wastewater treatment and the scalability of the synthesis method need further investigation.
1：Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A facile one-step calcination procedure was used to construct WO3/g-C3N4 binary composites.
2：Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Mixtures of melamine and ammonium tungstate hydrate with certain mass ratios were used as precursors.
3：List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Muffle furnace, agate mortar, UV–vis spectrophotometer, SEM, TEM, HRTEM, XPS, FT-IR, PL spectrometer, etc.
4：Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The mixture was ground and then heated at 550 °C for 40 min. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated by degrading RhB and MB under visible light.
5：Data Analysis Methods:
UV–vis DRS, PL spectra, electrochemical analyses, and reactive species trapping experiments were conducted to analyze the photocatalytic mechanism.
