研究目的
Developing a novel modulation format, hybrid noise cancelled asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (HNC-OFDM), by extending the concept of HDC-OFDM developed by the author in a recent study. The concept of HNC-OFDM is similar to that of HDC-OFDM in terms of using ACO-OFDM and DCO-OFDM on the lower and higher subcarriers, respectively. However, HDC-OFDM receiver uses the diversity combining technique for ACO-OFDM component, while HNC-OFDM uses noise cancellation for ACO-OFDM elements at the receiver.
研究成果
The paper concludes that HNC-OFDM offers a power-efficient and less complex alternative for optical wireless communication, with the same BER performance and dimming flexibility as HDC-OFDM. The optimum DC bias level for HNC-OFDM, DCO-OFDM, and ADO-OFDM depends on various factors including target BER, constellation size, and channel conditions. HNC-OFDM outperforms other forms in average power limited channels, while DCO-OFDM is better suited for peak power limited channels.
研究不足
The study is limited to simulations and does not include practical implementation challenges. The performance metrics are based on theoretical models and may vary in real-world scenarios. The study focuses on specific OFDM forms and may not cover all possible variations in optical wireless communication systems.
