研究目的
Investigating the efficiency of a facilely synthesized CuO/CeO2 photocatalyst in accelerating the degradation of methylene blue in hypersaline wastewater.
研究成果
The CuO/CeO2 photocatalyst synthesized by a modified hydrothermal-calcination method exhibits excellent photocatalytic activity and stability for the degradation of methylene blue in hypersaline wastewater. The degradation is mainly attributed to hydroxyl radicals, with superoxide and holes also playing significant roles. Chlorine ions have a dual effect, both promoting and inhibiting the degradation process. This study provides a valuable approach for the treatment of high-salt dye wastewater.
研究不足
The study focuses on the degradation of methylene blue under specific conditions (high-salt, UV light, H2O2). The effects of other dyes, different light sources, and other oxidants were not explored.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A modified hydrothermal-calcination method was used to synthesize the p-type CuO/n-type CeO2 heterojunction photocatalyst. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated under UV light with H2O2 as an oxidant.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Methylene blue (MB) was selected as the model substrate. Simulated high-salt wastewater was prepared by adding sodium chloride to MB solution.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, DRS, UV-Vis spectrometer, pH meter, total organic carbon analyzer, flame atomic absorption spectrometric method.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The photocatalytic reaction was conducted in a thermostatic waterbath under UV light. The effect of pH, recycling runs, and Cl? ion concentrations on MB degradation was investigated.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The degradation kinetics were analyzed using a pseudofirst-order kinetic model. The mineralization rate was determined by TOC analysis.
