研究目的
To compare visual acuity and intraocular straylight after implantation of clear and photochromic intraocular lenses (IOLs) in a mesopic lighting condition.
研究成果
There were no significant differences in BCVA and straylight values between clear and photochromic IOL groups under a mesopic light condition. Therefore, photochromic IOL could be a suitable choice for cataract patients who spend significant time under mesopic conditions.
研究不足
The study had a relatively small number of patients with photochromic IOLs and did not include analysis of yellow IOLs. Additionally, other indicators of visual quality such as contrast sensitivity and color vision were not simultaneously studied.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study compared visual acuity and straylight values in patients implanted with clear and photochromic IOLs under mesopic lighting conditions.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Patients who underwent cataract surgery and were implanted with either clear or photochromic IOLs were selected.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
C-quant straylight meter (Oculus GmbH, Wetzlar, Germany) was used for straylight measurement.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
BCVA was measured before surgery and 1 month after surgery. Straylight values were measured before surgery and 1 and 2 months after surgery.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analysis was performed using PASW statistics version 18.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA).
