Nanostructured vanadium-doped rutile titania was successfully synthesized at a relatively low temperature (600 °C) using a surface sol–gel process with natural cellulose substance as the template. The doping of vanadium effectively decreased the anatase-to-rutile phase transformation temperature of titania.
