To summarize the current status of knowledge, the kinds of applications available and the difficulties to be overcome in the different applications of photosynthetic reaction centres in nano-systems, and to show possible research directions for the close future in this specific field.

The review concludes that photosynthetic reaction centres offer unique properties for applications in nano-systems, including high quantum efficiency in light energy conversion and potential uses in biosensing and photovoltaics. However, challenges remain in stabilizing these proteins and integrating them into functional devices. Future research directions include improving the efficiency of photocurrent generation and exploring new applications in integrated optical devices and sensors.
