The carbon modified graphitic carbon nitride (CCN) synthesized via one-step pyrolysis of kapok fiber and melamine exhibits significantly enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light, with a rate 67.5 times higher than pristine CN. The bio-char ribbon edges facilitate charge separation and transfer, leading to improved efficiency. The method is cost-effective, biocompatible, and eco-friendly, offering a new approach for biomass utilization in photocatalysis.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A one-step pyrolysis method was used to synthesize carbon modified graphitic carbon nitride (CCN) by mixing kapok fiber (KF) with melamine. The process involved calcination at various temperatures (550°C, 600°C, 650°C) in a muffle furnace with air atmosphere. Nash Equilibrium from Game Theory was applied to analyze H2 generation rates.

Kapok fibers were collected from Shenzhen University. Melamine (99%) and sodium chlorite (80%) were purchased from Aladdin, China. Precursors were mixed in specific weight ratios.

Photocatalytic H2 evolution was measured in a reaction cell with triethanolamine as sacrificial agent and H2PtCl6 for Pt loading, under Xe lamp irradiation with specific filters. Photoelectrochemical measurements involved electrophoresis deposition on FTO substrates. Characterization included XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM, TGA, BET surface area analysis, DRS, PL, and ESR.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
H2 evolution rates were monitored by gas chromatography. Apparent quantum yields were calculated using a specific equation. Data from characterization techniques were analyzed to determine structural, chemical, and optical properties.
