High performance acetone sensor based on γ-Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al-ZnO nanocomposites
摘要: Ternary nanocomposites made of γ-iron oxide and aluminium-doped zinc oxide (γ-Fe2O3/Al-ZnO NCs), with different metal oxides ratio (0-100%) were prepared through a solvothermal sol-gel process. The synthesized γ-Fe2O3/Al-ZnO NCs were employed to prepare conductometric gas sensors, then their sensing performances toward acetone were also investigated. Results revealed enhanced sensing performance of nanocomposites than both pure γ-Fe2O3 and Al-ZnO phases. In particular, the γ-Fe2O3(33%)/Al-ZnO based gas sensor showed the best sensing properties, like a high response of Rair/Rgas = 29, a short response time of 3 s, in addition to an improved selectivity toward acetone vs. ethanol at an operating temperature of 200 °C. Overall, ternary γ-Fe2O3/Al-ZnO NCs appear to be promising for the development of conductometric acetone sensors.

摘要: Electrification of aircraft has become a hot topic in recent years both in civil aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles. The latter domain is gaining in popularity for its high altitude applications, particularly for bringing widespread internet coverage. This paper presents the work done on the optimisation of different types and topologies of permanent magnet electrical machines that can be considered as the main contenders for such application. These topologies consist of both laminated steel core and airgap winding machines. Instead of copper, compressed aluminium windings were considered which will help in reducing the overall mass of the stator. All the topologies were simulated both under take-off and cruise condition. Each machine had to fulfil a certain thermal constraint (current density) before being simulated at cruise condition in order to find the objective function of the final design. The best topology was chosen based on high efficiency in cruise condition with reduced mass.

Microdroplet electrowetting actuation on flexible paper-based lab on a chip
摘要: This paper presents the microdroplets electrowetting causing by the voltage actuation on the ?exible lab on a chip. The electrode is made of a thin Aluminium (Al) ?lm while the lab on a chip substrate is made from the cellulose paper, which is ?exible. Consistently in this work the microdroplet samples of 5 μl from Potassium Chloride (KCl) is experimented on top of the electrodes. It is shown that the ?exible paper-based lab on a EW chip has ful?lled the Lippmann’s equation where the higher the voltage supply, the lesser the interfacial tension of droplet. Moreover, the droplet has e?ciently trailed along the track of activated electrodes when using the olive oil as the dielectric layer. The olive oil with dielectric permittivity of 3.2 has given the best displacement and high velocity of the droplet transportation. The best low voltage to move the microdroplet between the two planar electrodes is 12 Vpp under the frequency of 10 Hz.

First-principles study of structural phase transformation and dynamical stability of cubic AlN semiconductors
摘要: Phase transformation and stability of cubic aluminium nitride (AlN) phases such as zinc-blende and rock-salt have been investigated using first-principles calculations based on density functional perturbation theory (DFPT) within quasi-harmonic approximation (QHA). The phonon dispersion relations of both the cubic phases have been calculated at various high-symmetry points of the Brillouin Zone. The pressure and volume dependence of phonon frequencies have been investigated. The application of pressure results in opposite trend of transverse acoustic (TA) phonon frequencies for rock-salt and zinc-blende AlN phases. The TA frequencies found to increase for the former one and decrease for the latter one with the increase in pressure. The dynamical instability results in a volume expansion of rock-salt AlN close to the equilibrium volume of zinc-blende AlN. Phase transformation of these cubic phases is further investigated by computing an equilibrium pressure-temperature phase diagram within QHA. The cubic rock-salt AlN is found to form at high pressures and temperatures than zinc-blende AlN. The temperature dependence of lattice constant and the corresponding volume thermal expansion coefficient of both the cubic phases have been investigated.

Organic nanostructure sensing layer developed by AAO template for the application in humidity sensors
摘要: The present study demonstrates a novel nanoporous structure of aluminium 1,8,15,22-tetrakis 29H,31H phthalocyanine chloride (AlPcCl) prepared by template-assisted method for a humidity sensor. The nanoporous sensing layer was fabricated by solution wetting of anodic aluminium oxide template. The solutions of AlPcCl in different concentrations were spun cast over the template at various speeds. Both capacitive and resistive responses were measured as a function of different relative humidity levels. The sensor showed wide operating relative humidity range and responded at quite low humidity levels. Morphological changes were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The sensor showed wide operating relative humidity range. The sensor demonstrated better performance with improved sensing parameters, highlighting unique advantages of the low-molecular nanostructured sensing layer for the humidity sensors.

Corrosion Inhibition of Aluminium Alloy AA6063-T5 by Vanadates: Local Surface Chemical Events Elucidated by Confocal Raman Micro-Spectroscopy
摘要: Chemical interactions between aqueous vanadium species and aluminium alloy AA6063-T5 were investigated in vanadate-containing NaCl solutions. Confocal Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiments were utilised to gain insight into the mechanism of corrosion inhibition by vanadates. A greenish-grey coloured surface layer, consisting of V+4 and V+5 polymerized species, was seen to form on the alloy surface, especially on top of cathodic micrometre-sized IMPs, whereby suppressing oxygen reduction kinetics. The results suggest a two-step mechanism of corrosion inhibition in which V+5 species are first reduced to V+4 or V+3 species above cathodic IMPs, and then oxidized to mixed-valence V+5/V+4 polymerized compounds.

摘要: This article describes the fabrication and characterization of aluminium interdigitated electrode hybrid with ZnO for cardiac troponin T biomarker detection. The device was modified with one type of probe for the detection of cardiac troponin T (cTnT) biomarker. The fabrication process involved the deposition of ZnO thin film on the aluminium interdigitated electrode (Al IDE) using sol-gel method. The device was then characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), and 3D surface (Nano) profilometer. The electrical characterization was performed using current-voltage (I-V) measurement. The results showed that the device was able to detect cTnT biomarker with high sensitivity and selectivity.

摘要: Anodic aluminium oxide films were formed in various acidic solutions and further covered by Ni and Cu coatings. Certain of them were reanodized to thicken their barrier sub-layer. As a final outcome, printed circuit board-like multi-layer structure Al/Al2O3/Ni/Cu is produced. In this case, it is clearly demonstrated that the breakdown voltage of anodic oxide depends on its overall thickness, barrier sub-layer thickness, metal coating availability as well as to some extent on pore diameter.
