  • Anthracene- and pyrene-bearing imidazoles as turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for aluminum ion in living cells

    摘要: A newly designed 2-(2-Aminophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole integrated anthracene/pyrene derivatives as efficient chemosensors were synthesized. The probes N-(anthracen-9-ylmethylene)-2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)aniline (ANP) and N-(pyren-1-ylmethylene)-2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-aniline (PYP) exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards Al3+ ion over other interfering and competing cations in aqueous solution. Job’s plot analysis reveals that the interaction of ANP/PYP with Al3+ was 1:1 binding stoichiometry. The detection limit of probes ANP and PYP for Al3+ ions were found to be 1.85 × 10-7 M and 1.08 × 10-7 M, respectively. The DFT/TD-DFT calculations have also been revealed that the ICT mechanism is responsible for the observed photophysical changes. Moreover, the probes ANP and PYP were applicable to image intracellular Al3+ ions in living cells via confocal fluorescence microscopy technique.

  • A simple turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for CO2 based on aggregation-induced emission: Application as a CO2 absorbent screening method

    摘要: An a-cyanostilbene-based fluorescent chemosensor, which includes a primary amine, was developed for the quantitative analysis of CO2 in solution. (Z)-3-(4-(3-Aminopropoxy)phenyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylonitrile (1) reacts with CO2 and enables a turn-on type CO2 chemosensor with increased fluorescence due to aggregation-induced emission. More importantly, 1 required no additives such as an amine media for detecting CO2, and the limit of detection was estimated to be ~26 ppm. This system was successfully applied to determine the relative efficiency of CO2 absorbents dependent on the fluorescence change in 1. The use of this chemosensor as a CO2 absorbent screening method suggests that 1 may be used to develop a high-throughput screening method for the evaluation of high-performance CO2 absorbents.

  • Metal ion sensing ability and photo-physical properties of 4-hydroxy-3-nitroso-2H-chromen-2-one: Interaction studies with calf thymus-DNA

    摘要: 4-Hydroxy-3-nitroso-2H-chromen-2-one (HNC), a coumarin derivative has been synthesized through a very simple method, and its photo-physical properties were studied. HNC is used as a simple colorimetric as well as spectrophotometric chemosensor for the detection of Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Cu2+ ions, some even by naked-eyes. This process gives a sensitive readout of chemosensor HNC within a wide range of (4.5–1219.5) × 10?7 (M) at λmax 258 nm. HNC has greater binding and detection ability toward Fe2+ than that of 1,10-phenanthrolin, and it has greater binding ability for Fe2+ than that with Fe3+ also. We have also established a method for solid state sensing of iron salts by HNC. Moreover, the binding interaction of HNC with calf-thymus DNA (CT-DNA) established a groove binding mode.

  • A fluorescent and colorimetric Schiff base chemosensor for the detection of Zn2+ and Cu2+: Application in live cell imaging and colorimetric test kit

    摘要: A novel Schiff base chemosensor HMID, ((E)-1-((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)imidazolidine-2,4-dione), have been designed and synthesized. Sensor HMID showed a selectivity to Zn2+ through fluorescence enhancement in aqueous solution. Its detection limit was analyzed as 11.9 μM. Importantly, compound HMID could be applied to image Zn2+ in live cells. Detection mechanism of Zn2+ by HMID was suggested to be an effect of chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) by DFT calculations. Moreover, HMID could detect Cu2+ with a change of color from colorless to pink. The selective detection mechanism of Cu2+ by HMID was demonstrated to be the promotion of intramolecular charge transfer band by DFT calculations. Additionally, HMID could be employed as a naked-eye colorimetric kit for Cu2+. Therefore, HMID has the ability as a 'single sensor for dual targets'.

  • Epoxy-based polymer incorporating 1-Naphthylamine and sebacic acid moieties: A selective fluorescent sensor for ferric ions

    摘要: A new epoxy-based polymer sensor 1 incorporating 1-naphthylamine and sebacic acid moieties was synthesised. The sensor shows ON-OFF type fluorescence selectivity for Fe3+ over other coexistent metal ions such as Cu2+ , Zn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cd2+ , Hg2+, Mg2+, Sr2+, Pb2+ and Ca2+ ions.

  • A novel crown ether-acylhydrazone turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for Al3+ ion

    摘要: A novel fluorescent chemosensor based on crown ether-acylhydrazone (L) was synthesized and characterized. The sensor L exhibited high selectivity and sensitive recognition towards Al3+ through a significant “turn-on” fluorescence response at 444 nm in methanol solution. While, other competitive ions had no such significant effects on the fluorescence emission. The associated spectra behavior might be attributed to the formation of 2:1 L-Al3+ complex and the proposed binding mode of L-Al3+ was demonstrated by the fluorescence titration profiles, Job’s plot, ESI-MS spectrometry, 1H NMR titration and the IR analysis. Besides the high reproducibility of the optical signals, very low detection limit of 0.24 μM was calculated. The association constant (Ks) for L-Al3+ complex was about 5.56×109 ± 8.19×107 M-2. The results of various experiments showed the sensor L followed a turn-on mechanism via of the suppression of C=N isomerization and excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process and the activation of chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF). Theoretical calculations using DFT/B3LYP method was also used to get insight into the sensing mechanism and electronic structure of L. The sensor L could be conceived as an effective and practical fluorescent chemosensor for determination of Al3+.

  • Isophorone-boronate ester: A simple chemosensor for optical detection of fluoride anion

    摘要: A highly selective isophorone‐boronate ester based chemosensor, (1), having a dicyanovinyl moiety as a convenient colorimetric probe, has been designed. Different types of anionic analyte such as CH3COO?, Br?, Cl?, ClO4? and HSO4?, PF6? were tested and among them only highly nucleophilic F? anion displayed significant response towards the sensor. Addition of the fluoride anion across the boron atom disrupts the π‐conjugation thereby shifts the absorption wavelength towards the redshift region due to the decrease in the HOMO‐LUMO energy gap and a colour change from yellow to blue is observed under visible light condition. The detection limit of this probe was calculated to be 3.25 × 10?8 M for fluoride anion. The binding constants and the detection limits of the sensor were calculated using absorption titration studies. The silica gel TLC strips dip‐coated by the chemosensor (1) revealed a colour change from yellow to brick red to naked eye.

  • Novel Approach for Modeling an Ionic Imprinted Polymer Based SAW Sensor with COMSOL Multiphysics

    摘要: Modeling a Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor response as a chemosensor and not only as just an electronic transducer was performed with COMSOL Multiphysics. For this study, the SAW’s sensing area was functionalized with an ionic imprinted polymer (IIP), designed for the selective detection of lead ions. The idea consists in subdividing the IIP into elementary blocks whose physical properties can be modified separately. Three configurations have been envisaged: the IIP before and after lead ions extraction and the non-imprinted polymer (NIP). The generation of shear-horizontal waves on LiTaO3 piezoelectric substrate is confirmed by recording the displacement amplitude versus time, according to the three space directions. The sensors sensitivity is estimated from the delays induced by the incorporation of the lead ions in the IIP layer. To the best of our knowledge, this approach has never been presented in the literature.

  • Novel Multifunctional Luminescent Electrospun Fluorescent Nanofiber Chemosensor-Filters and Their Versatile Sensing of pH, Temperature, and Metal Ions

    摘要: Novel multifunctional ?uorescent chemosensors composed of electrospun (ES) nano?bers with high sensitivity toward pH, mercury ions (Hg2+), and temperature were prepared from poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide-co-N-methylolacrylamide-co-rhodamine derivative) (poly(NIPAAm-co-NMA-co-RhBN2AM)) by employing an electrospinning process. NIPAAm and NMA moieties provide hydrophilic and thermo-responsive properties (absorption of Hg2+ in aqueous solutions), and chemical cross-linking sites (stabilization of the ?brous structure in aqueous solutions), respectively. The ?uorescent probe, RhBN2AM is highly sensitive toward pH and Hg2+. The synthesis of poly(NIPAAm-co-NMA-co-RhBN2AM) with different compositions was carried on via free-radical polymerization. ES nano?bers prepared from sensory copolymers with a 71.1:28.4:0.5 NIPAAm:NMA:RhBN2AM ratio (P3 ES nano?bers) exhibited signi?cant color change from non-?uorescent to red ?uorescence while sensing pH (the λPL, max exhibited a 4.8-fold enhancement) or Hg2+ (at a constant Hg2+ concentration (10?3 M), the λPL, max of P3-?bers exhibited 4.7-fold enhancement), and high reversibility of on/off switchable ?uorescence emission at least ?ve times when Hg2+ and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) were sequentially added. The P3 ES nano?brous membranes had a higher surface-to-volume ratio to enhance their performance than did the corresponding thin ?lms. In addition, the ?uorescence emission of P3 ES nano?brous membranes exhibited second enhancement above the lower critical solution temperature. Thus, the ES nano?brous membranes prepared from P3 with on/off switchable capacity and thermo-responsive characteristics can be used as a multifunctional sensory device for speci?c heavy transition metal (HTM) in aqueous solutions.

  • Development of 1,2- and 1,3-Ketohydrazones Derived Rhodamine Chromophores Sensitive to Metal Ions and pH

    摘要: New Rhodamine derivatives were developed from ketohydrazones. 2,4-Pentanedione and 1,3-cyclohexanedione condensation of rhodamine-hydrazine afforded a stable enol hydrazone and enamine rhodamines via equilibrium shifts. Enamine rhodamine exhibited strong pH sensitivity. 2-Cyclohexanedione rhodamine emitted a strong fluorescence as a selective Al3+ sensing probe. The binding constants of the enol hydrazone rhodamine were 2.0 × 104 M?1 (Al3+) and 5.4 × 104 (Cu2+).
