  • Synthesis of Bi <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> films, studying their optical, structural, and surface roughness properties

    摘要: Reactive pulse laser deposition system was used to prepare Bi2O3 thin films at different laser fluence. It effect on the physical properties of thin films was investigated. A Polymorphous structure was obtaining from XRD results. While the obtained microscopic results from AFM show that grain size is varied between 33.48nm and 131.6 nm. The estimated band gap value from the optical transmission found to range from 1.7-2.9 eV.

  • Conjugated side-chains engineering of polymer donor enabling improved efficiency for polymer solar cells

    摘要: Generally, molecular optimization is widely used to fine-tune the absorption features and energy levels of photovoltaic materials to improve their photovoltaic performance for polymer solar cells (PSCs). In this work, we demonstrate an example that the morphological properties can be effectively optimized by conjugated side-chains engineering on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene (BDT) unit. The polymer donors PBNT-S with alkylthio-thienyl substitution and PBNP-S with alkylthio-phenyl substitution have identical absorption spectra and energy levels, while exhibit significantly different morphological properties when blended with nonfullerene acceptor Y6. The PBNT-S:Y6 blend shows obviously over crystallinity with excessive domain sizes, while the PBNP-S:Y6 blend realizes better nanoscale phase separation. As a result, a notable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.31% with a high fill factor (FF) of 0.694 is achieved in the PBNP-S:Y6-based device, while the PBNT-S:Y6-based device yields a moderate PCE of 11.10% and a relatively low FF of 0.605. Additionally, PBNP-S shows great potential in semitransparent PSCs, that the PBNP-S:Y6-based semitransparent PSC achieves an outstanding PCE of 11.86%, with an average visible transmittance of 24.3%. The results demonstrate a feasible strategy to manipulate the morphological properties of blend film via rational molecular optimization to improve the photovoltaic performance.

  • Effect of light induced heat treatment on the structural and morphological properties of Linbo3 thin films

    摘要: In this research, the spin coating technique has been used to achieve the deposition process of the lithium-niobate. A halogen lamp has used to maintain required heating during the deposition process. A Range of temperatures (60 - 120 °C) was applied on a substrate of a single crystal silicon wafer to maintain high quality deposition process. The deposited films were subsequently annealed to annealing temperature of 500 °C. Films were characterized and analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscope (SEM), Raman spectroscopy. The results showed there is a significant impact that the substrate temperature can role over the structural and morphological properties of the prepared films. It also showed that there is a critical value of substrate temperature yields to the best combination of morphological and structural properties. Moreover, the higher values of the refractive index suggest that this material is more suitable for optical waveguides applications.

  • Enhancement of photodetectors devices for silicon nanostructure from study effect of etching time by photoelectrochemical etching technique

    摘要: Porous silicon (PS) prepared from n-type silicon via photoelectrochemical etching (PECE) technique. The morphology properties of PS specimens that formed with different etching time has been study utilize Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and it show that the Layer of pore has sponge like stricture and the average pore diameter of PS layer rising with increase etching time. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern indicated the nanocrystaline of the specimens, during these results; we showed improve behavior of PS photodetectors on a range of wavelengths.

  • In-depth study of annealed porous silicon: Understand the morphological properties effect on negative LiB electrode performance

    摘要: Silicon (Si) used as negative electrode in a Li-ion battery (LIB) is highly attractive for its high energy density, safe cycling, and nontoxicity. However its alloying mechanism with Li induces material pulverization, which leads to a rapid capacity fade. In this work, annealing post treatment was used in order to tune the morphological properties of porous silicon. Playing on annealing temperature, the morphological modification induces electrochemical behavior changes in LIB. The porosification is an interesting way to accommodate the volume expansion occurring during the alloying process. Increase of the annealing temperature leads to porous Si pores and walls reorganization, which has a positive impact on battery performance likely due to a higher wettability of the Si electrode with electrolyte. 700 °C appeared to be the optimized annealing temperature.

  • The effects of gadolinium doping on the structural, morphological, optical, and photoluminescence properties of zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared by co-precipitation method

    摘要: Pure and gadolinium (Gd)-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method. The EDS analysis confirmed the presence of Gd3+ ions in ZnO lattice. The X-ray diffraction measurement indicated the formation of hexagonal wurtzite structure for both pure and Gd-doped ZnO nanoparticles. The structural parameters of nanoparticles such as lattice constant, crystallite size, dislocation density, micro strain and other lattice parameters were calculated from XRD data. FESEM images of nanoparticles showed that the grain morphology of nanoparticles tends to hexagonal form by introducing Gd3+ ions into the ZnO lattice. The presence of functional groups and chemical bonding attributed to ZnO was confirmed by FT-IR measurement. The optical properties of nanoparticles were investigated by UV–Vis spectroscopy. The UV–Vis absorbance spectra, for Gd-doped samples, illustrated a blue shift by increasing Gd concentration. Also, the band gap of nanoparticles increased by increasing Gd concentration. The photoluminescence spectra of Gd-doped nanoparticles showed that the intensity of green luminescence increases by substitution of Gd3+ ions into the ZnO lattice attributed to the oxygen vacancies.

  • Impact of molarity on structural, optical, morphological and electrical properties of copper oxide thin films prepared by cost effective jet nebulizer spray pyrolysis technique

    摘要: Copper oxide (CuO) thin films were prepared by simple and cost effective jet nebulizer spray pyrolysis method with different molar concentration 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 M named as J1, J2 and J3 respectively. The impact of molarity on structural, optical, morphological and electrical of properties of CuO thin film was studied. The structural studies confirmed that the prepared CuO thin films are monoclinic crystal structure matching with standard JCPDS card No. 89-5899. The thickness of CuO thin films determined by surface profilometer found to be increasing while increasing molar concentration. The optical energy band gaps were determined using Kulbelka–Munk (K–M) method are found to be 2.1 eV, 1.9 eV and 1.8 eV for J1, J2 and J3 respectively. The morphological properties and chemical composition of CuO thin film were investigated via field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive analysis from X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX). According to FESEM all the prepared CuO thin films are well covered and adhered to the substrate with good homogeneity and EDAX spectra confirms the presence of copper (Cu) and oxygen (O). The adhesion strength has been determined in accordance with test method D3330 using scotch tape test. The electrical conductivity of CuO thin films were investigated. The maximum conductivity value of the CuO thin film is observed 2.75 × 10?8 S/cm.

  • Tuning the optical properties of ZnO:Cd by doping La and Y

    摘要: Zinc oxide doped with Cadmium and rare earth elements synthesized by solgel auto combustion route is reported in this work. The studies have been carried out to analyze the structural, morphological and optical properties of Cd doped ZnO and rare earth doped ZnCdO. The XRD analysis reveals that the addition of rare earth impurity decreases the particle size of ZnCdO. La doped ZnCdO has the least particle size among the samples of ZnCdO and rare earth doped ZnCdO. The morphological changes due to the addition of rare earth impurities have been found. Samples of La doped ZnCdO shows a pillar like morphology. The hexagonal structures are prominently seen in the SEM micrographs of the samples of ZnCdO. The UV-Visible spectral analyses show that the bandgap reduces when ZnCdO is doped with the rare earth impurities. The photoluminescence spectra show the broad spectrum in visible region exhibited by ZnO and a scanty UV emission. The UV emission of rare earth doped samples decreases due to the destruction in the crystal structure. The rare earth doped ZnCdO shows a small peak in green emission that decreases when rare earth impurities are doped. There is a uniform spectral response other than a small Gaussian like green peak. The overall analyses show that the samples can be used in optoelectronic applications to work in the visible region.

    摘要: In this paper, lithium-niobate thin films were deposited using spray pyrolysis method. Further investigations of the physical properties of prepared samples were also studied. The spray pyrolysis deposition method was performed over a quartz substrate employing new raw materials as precursor compounds. During the deposition process, a range of annealing temperatures were set to maintain a physical changes in the prepared samples properties. Further, the structural properties were also characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), AFM, and film thickness.
