  • Excited State Dynamics of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ Thin Films on Sensitized TiO2 and ZrO2

    摘要: The excited state dynamics of Tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate, [Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2], was investigated on the surface of bare and sensitized TiO2 and ZrO2 films. The organic dyes LEG4 and MKA253 were selected as sensitizers. A Stern-Volmer plot of LEG4-sensitized TiO2 substrates with a spin-coated [Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2] layer on top shows considerable quenching of the emission of the latter. Time-resolved emission spectroscopy interestingly reveals the presence of a fast-decay time component (25±5 ns), which is absent when the anatase TiO2 semiconductor is replaced by ZrO2. It should be specified that the positive redox potential of the ruthenium complex prevents electron transfer from the [Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2] ground state into the oxidized sensitizer. Therefore, we speculate that the fast-decaying time component observed may be identified with excited-state electron transfer from [Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2] to the oxidized sensitizer. Solid-state dye sensitized solar cells (ssDSSCs) employing MKA253 and LEG4 dyes, with [Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2] employed as a hole-transporting material (HTM), exhibit 1.2% and 1.1% power conversion efficiency, respectively. This result illustrates the possibility of the hypothesized excited-state electron transfer.

  • Electrochemiluminescent sensor based on Ru(bpy)32+-doped silica nanoprobe by incorporating a new co-reactant NBD-amine for selective detection of hydrogen sulfide

    摘要: Here, we fabricated a new amine compound as the co-reactant and incorporated an ECL sensor based on RuSi NPs/Nafion to improve the detection sensitivity of ECL system toward H2S by enhancing ECL intensity. The prepared sensor shows a good detection effect. In the work, water-oil microemulsion method was used to synthesize the Ru(bpy)3 2+-doped silica nanoparticles (RuSi NPs), and then mixed the RuSi NPs solution with Nafion (5 wt%) followed by modifying the mixture to the electrode. Upon treatment with H2S, the co-reactant NBD (7-nitro-1,2,3-benzoxadiazole) can release the piperazine intermediate, which can effectively improve the ECL signals of Ru(bpy)3 2+. This enhanced ECL assay for H2S detection have the following several merits: excellent sensitivity with the detection limit of 1.7 × 10 -12mol/L, good selectivity over interfering species.

  • Dual Quenching Electrochemiluminescence Strategy Based on 3D Metal-organic Frameworks for Ultrasensitive Detection of Amyloid-β

    摘要: We have proposed a dual quenching electrochemiluminescence (ECL) strategy which based on Ru(bpy)3 2+ as chromophores caged in 3D Zn-oxalate metal-organic frameworks (Ru(bpy)3 2+/Zn-oxalate MOFs) for ultrasensitive detection of amyloid-β (Aβ). The three-dimensional chromophore connectivity in Zn-oxalate MOFs provided a network for rapid excited state energy transfer migration among Ru(bpy)3 2+ units which shielded the chromophores from solvent molecules and led to a high energy Ru emission efficiency. In addition, we found that both Au nanoparticles and NiFe-based nanocube MOFs could contribute to the reduction of the ECL intensity of chromophore. And the ECL emission spectra of 3D Ru(bpy)3 2+/Zn-oxalate MOFs overlapped appropriately with the ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra of Au@NiFe-MOFs composites, which could trigger the resonance energy transfer (RET) behavior between Ru(bpy)3 2+/Zn-oxalate MOFs (donor) and Au@NiFe-MOFs (acceptor), achieving the dual quenching effect of Ru(bpy)3 2+ encapsulated in 3D Zn-oxalate MOFs and significantly boosting the sensitivity of the Aβ-detection immunosensor. In order to examine the clinical practicability, we have applied it to verify the content of Aβ solution ranging from 100 fg mL-1 to 50 ng mL-1 and obtained the calibration cure with high correlation coefficient, along with the low limit of detection of 13.8 fg mL-1. Above all, this work demonstrated an approach of constructing dual quenching effect ECL immunosensors in whole 3D MOFs system and its application in ECL methodology.

  • Electrochemiluminescence Detection of Melamine with Electropolymerized Poly(sulfosalicylic acid)/Ru(bpy)32+ Modified Electrode

    摘要: In this paper, a PSA/Ru(bpy)3 2+ modified electrode was prepared by electrochemical polymerization and used as the working electrode in ECL detection of melamine. Under the optimal conditions, the sensor shows a wide linear range of 1.0×10-7 ~1.0×10-5 mol/L, detection limit of 2.5×10-8 mol/L with good reproducibility and stability. The method is expected to be a new method for the detection of melamine, which is simple and convenient.

  • Target-responsive ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor for OTA based on energy transfer between [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and silica quantum dots

    摘要: A ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor based on energy transfer between [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and silica quantum dots (silica QDs) for assaying OTA was fabricated. The aptamer for OTA was used as the gate to shield the fluorescent reagent [Ru(bpy)3]2+ into mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSN). In the presence of OTA, the constrained [Ru(bpy)3]2+ was released from MSN due to a target-induced aptamer conformational change. The released [Ru(bpy)3]2+ adsorbed onto the negatively charged silica QDs through electrostatic interaction. This creates appearance of fluorescence from [Ru(bpy)3]2+ at 625 nm and decrease of the fluorescence from silica QDs at 442 nm owing to the energy transfer. The value of FL625nm/FL442nm was in proportion to the concentration of OTA in the range 0.5~100 ng mL?1 with a LOD of 0.08 ng mL?1. Practical applicability of this method was validated by the determination of OTA in flour samples.

  • Sandwich magnetically imprinted immunosensor for electrochemiluminescence ultrasensing diethylstilbestrol based on enhanced luminescence of Ru@SiO2 by CdTe@ZnS quantum dots

    摘要: A molecularly imprinted magnetic sensor with electroluminescent tags (MIP-ECL sensor) was developed for ultrasensing diethylstilbestrol (DES). A strategy is exploited to enhance ECL emission of the [Ru(bpy)3]2 +-tripropyl amine (TPrA) system by CdTe@ZnS quantum-dots (QDs) through energy transfer. Magnetically molecularly imprinted nanoparticles (MMIPs NPs) based on Fe3O4@SiO2 carriers are artificial, easily reproducible, and could replace easily inactivated first antibodies for capturing more DES molecules. Functionalized bio-conjugates of single antibody-CdTe@ZnS (Ab-CdTe@ZnS) are for the first time loaded on signal labels of Ru(bpy)3 2 +-doped silica nanocomposites (Ru@SiO2) for signal amplification. The final bio-conjugated signal probes are denoted as Ab-DES/CdTe@ZnS-Ru@SiO2. MMIPs beads that have captured antigens are bio-conjugated with antibody-labeled luminescent probes by specific immunoreactive reaction, and then the luminescent immunocomplex generates ECL signal on the magnetic electrode. The logarithm of ECL intensities depend linearly on the logarithm of DES concentrations in the range from 4.8×10? 4 to 36.0 nM with a detection limit of 0.025 pM. This novel assay is much more sensitive than other MIP sensors, and achieves lower cost and more enhanced stability than other immunosensors. The sensor is significantly potential and has been applied to DES detection in actual environment.

  • A sensitive method to monitor catechol by using graphitic carbon nitride quantum dots as coreactants in Ru(bpy)32+-based electrochemiluminescent system

    摘要: Graphitic carbon nitride quantum dots (g-CNQDs) with special structures have exhibited fascinating advantages over the common QDs. In this work, we report a novel Ru(bpy)3 2+/g-CNQDs electrochemiluminescence (ECL) system, and the effect of g-CNQDs on the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)3 2+ was discussed. It was found that g-CNQDs containing in proposed ECL system played an important coreactant role in ECL signal enhancement of Ru(bpy)3 2+, which was proved by electrochemical, ultraviolet, and ECL experiments. Based on the quenching effect of catechol on the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)3 2+/g-CNQDs, a quenching-based ECL system was designed for catechol determination. The ECL sensing system demonstrated high sensitivity to catechol, with a linear range from 10 nM to 2 mM and a detection limit of 2.5 nM (S/N = 3). The sensor was adopted for catechol analysis in tea samples with satisfactory results.

  • Electrochemiluminescence of gold nanoparticles and gold nanoparticle-labelled antibodies as co-reactants

    摘要: Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and AuNP-labelled antibodies can participate in the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) reaction of tris(2,20-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)3 2+) as a co-reactant. The electrochemical and spectral characteristics of this new ECL system were con?rmed by experiments, and its reaction mechanism was speculated to be di?erent from that of typical ECL. The experimental results showed that the new ECL system exhibited higher ECL e?ciency, and AuNP-labelled substances can be sensitively measured with the help of AuNPs. Based on the dual role of AuNPs as a co-reactant and marker, the AuNP–Ru(bpy)3 2+ ECL system will be a useful tool in biochemical analysis.

  • A Novel Solid-State Electrochemiluminescence Sensor Based on poly(3-amino-4 hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid) /Ru(bpy)32+ Modified Electrode for Determination of Malachite Green

    摘要: The poly(3-amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid)/Ru(bpy)3 2+ modified glassy carbon electrode (PAHBS/Ru(bpy)3 2+/GCE) is a novel solid-state electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor. It was prepared by electropolymerization of 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonicacid (AHBS) followed by soaking into Ru(bpy)3 2+ solution. Ru(bpy)3 2+ was entrapped on the electrode via the electrostatic interactions between sulfonic acid groups and Ru(bpy)3 2+ cation. The morphology and composition of the modified electrodes were analysed using scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersed spectrum. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to compare the electrochemical behavior of the electrodes before and after modification. Under the optimal conditions, the ECL intensity of the quenching value (ΔECL) versus the logarithm of the concentration of malachite green (MG) was linear over a concentration range from 5.0 × 10-8 to 1.0 × 10-5 mol L-1 (r = 0.9931) and the limit of detection (LOD) was 2.5 × 10-8 mol L-1. This method has been successfully applied to the determination of MG in pond water.
