  • Highly efficient green upconversion luminescence of ZnMoO4:Yb3+/Er3+/Li+ for accurate temperature sensing

    摘要: Upconversion luminescence and optical temperature sensing properties of Yb3+/Er3+/Li+ tri-doped ZnMoO4 phosphors were investigated. It has been demonstrated that Li+ doping affected not only the local symmetry of Yb3+ and Er3+ but also the distribution of them in the host lattice. As a result, the significantly improved green upconversion luminescence was obtained when excited at 980 nm. The pumping power dependent photo-thermal behavior was used to evaluate the reliability of upconversion temperature sensing. An accurate temperature scale was established by eliminating the impact of thermal effect, and the sensing ability was evaluated via a comparison with the results reported in literatures.

  • Water-Stable Metal–Organic Frameworks with Selective Sensing on Fe <sup>3+</sup> and Nitroaromatic Explosives, and Stimuli-Responsive Luminescence on Lanthanide Encapsulation

    摘要: Three water-stable luminescent MOFs [Zn4(bptc)2(NMP)3(DMF)(H2O)2]n (1-a), [Cd4(bptc)2(NMP)3(DMF)2(H2O)1]n (1-b), and {[Zn2(bptc)(DMA)(H2O)2]·(DMA)2·H2O}n (2), possessing similar chemical components (M2:L1:Sol3) and topology structures, were synthesized by solvents control. Their excellent sensing on iron(III) cation and nitroaromatic explosives (NACs) with great selectivity, sensitivity and a high Ksv (4.54 × 10^4 for 1-b on PNP) were observed by quenching effects. Furthermore, Zn-MOFs exhibit interesting stimuli-responsive luminescence enhancement after the encapsulation of a series of IIIB cations stimulated different luminescent emitting and intensity enhancement through host–guest processes of the pores in MOFs, especially for two distinct responses of Zn-MOF on a Tb3+ cation.

  • Infrared Image Reconstruction Based on Archimedes Spiral Measurement Matrix

    摘要: It is a new research direction to realize infrared (IR) image reconstruction using compressed sensing (CS) theory. In the field of CS, the construction of measurement matrix is very principal. At present, the types of measurement matrices are mainly random and deterministic. The random measurement matrix can well satisfy the property of measurement matrix, but needs a large amount of storage space and has an inconvenient in hardware implementation. Therefore, a deterministic measurement matrix construction method is proposed for IR image reconstruction in this paper. Firstly, a series of points are collected on Archimedes spiral to construct a definite sequence; then the initial measurement matrix is constructed; finally, the deterministic measurement matrix is obtained according to the required sampling rate. Simulation results show that the IR image could be reconstructed by the measured values obtained through the proposed measurement matrix. Moreover, the proposed measurement matrix has better reconstruction performance compared with the Gaussian and Bernoulli random measurement matrices.

  • Aerosol uncertainty assessment: an integrated approach of remote AQUA MODIS and AERONET data

    摘要: The moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) is one of the widely used sensors to address environmental and climate change subjects with a daily global coverage. MODIS Collection 6 aerosol products at 10-km resolution are used in this study to monitor aerosol variability and assess its uncertainty using ground-based measurements. The aerosol optical depth (AOD) is retrieved by different algorithms based on the pixel surface, determining between land and ocean. Using data collected from Sidi Salem Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) station, we computed the accuracy for aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrieved from MODIS aboard the AQUA satellite using two validation methods. The results show a good agreement between MODIS and AERONET data for the study period using both the algorithms. We obtained high values of the correlation coefficient. These findings indicate that MODIS data perform well over Ben Salem AERONET station and are recommended for air quality monitoring over Tunisia. The conducted validation throughout the AERONET leads to a degree of confidence that allows a deep investigation of the AOD spatial variability over Tunisia. Then, MODIS data shows high performance with good certainty to identify the principal dust sources and typical transport paths occurring on the study region.

  • Automatic bathymetry retrieval from SAR images

    摘要: Bathymetry, the topography of the sea floor, is in high demand due to the increase in offshore constructions like wind parks. It is also an important dataset for climate change modelling, when sea level rises and changes in circulation currents are to be simulated. The retrieval of accurate bathymetry data is a cost-intensive task usually requiring a survey vessel charting the respective area. However, bathymetry can also be retrieved remotely using data from Earth observation satellites. The main point of this study is the development of a processor that allows the automatic derivation of gridded bathymetry information from spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. Observations of sea state modifications in SAR images are used to derive the bathymetry in shelf areas using the shoaling effect, which causes wavelengths to become shorter when reaching shallower waters. The water depth is derived using the dispersion relation for surface water waves, which requires wavelength and wave period as input parameters. While the wavelength can be directly retrieved from the SAR image, for the peak period additional information and procedures are required, e.g. local measurements or complex SAR data. A method for automatically deriving the wave period for swell waves in SAR images was developed and tested in this paper. It uses depth data from public databases as initial values which are compared to derived depths iterating through possible peak periods along the calculation grid; the peak period resulting in a minimal root-mean-square deviation is then used for bathymetry calculation. The bathymetry derived from a TerraSAR-X acquisition of the Channel Islands is presented; the resulting peak wave period of 11.3 s fits well to nearby in situ measurement data.

  • Stacked Nanoporous Anodic Alumina Gradient-Index Filters with Tunable Multispectral Photonic Stopbands as Sensing Platforms

    摘要: This study presents the development and optical engineering of stacked nanoporous anodic alumina gradient-index (NAA-GIFs) filters with tunable multi-spectral photonic stopbands for sensing applications. The structure of these photonic crystal (PC) is formed by stacked layers of NAA produced with sinusoidally modified effective medium. The progressive modification of the sinusoidal period during the anodization process enables the generation and precise tuning of the characteristic photonic stopbands (PSB) (i.e. one per sinusoidal period in the anodization profile) of these PC structures. Four types of NAA-GIFs featuring three distinctive PSBs positioned within the visible spectral region are developed. The sensitivity of the effective medium of these NAA-GIFs is systematically assessed by measuring spectral shifts in the characteristic PSBs upon infiltration of their nanoporous structure with analytical solutions of D-glucose with several concentrations (0.025 – 1 M). This study provides new insights into the intrinsic relationship between the nanoporous architecture of these PCs and their optical properties, generating opportunities to fabricate advanced optical sensing systems for high-throughput and multiplexed detection of analytes in a single sensing platform.

  • NO2 and H2 sensing properties for urchin-like hexagonal WO3 based on experimental and first-principle investigations

    摘要: An intricate sea-urchin-like hexagonal WO3 nanostructure was synthesized by a facile hydrothermal approach. Sensing properties of the as-fabricated sensor exhibited surpassing response and selectivity for NO2 in comparison of H2 after corroborating the composition, phase-purity and surface morphology using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Formation of the urchin-like structure was ascribed to the capping effects of potassium sulfate that prompts the anisotropic growth of WO3, leading to hierarchical complex with a large surface-volume ratio. In particular, first-principle calculation had provided a new perspective for us to delve into the sensing process of H2 and NO2 from an atomic level. It was found that the sensing properties mainly arose from the tuning of electronic structure and electrons transfer between the adsorbed gas and the sensitized surface along with the charge relocation between them. Finally, a plausible mechanism was proposed as theoretical guidance for achieving high-performance sensors experimentally and supposedly.

  • Deformation sensing and electrical compensation of smart skin antenna structure with optimal fiber Bragg grating strain sensor placements

    摘要: Skin antenna structure is a kind of multifunctional composite structure in which printed antennas are integrated. This paper proposes a new smart skin antenna structure with embedded fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensors. Utilizing the measured strains from limited FBG strain sensors, the deformation shapes are reconstructed by using a strain–displacement transformation, and the deteriorated radiation patterns caused by the deformations are compensated by using a strain-electromagnetic coupling mode which is derived and validated for the first time in the paper. Moreover, a two-step sensor placement method considering the information redundancy is proposed to determine optimal FBG strain sensor locations. The comparisons show that the two-step sensor placement method is advantageous in terms of the sensor distribution and computational cost. The fabrication process of the smart skin antenna structure was presented, and an experimental system with optimal sensor placements was developed. The measured results demonstrate that the reconstructed shapes agree well with the real ones, and that the deteriorated radiating patterns were almost completely restored to the desired ones. The proposed smart skin antenna structure which can provide the electromagnetic receiving-sending, structural deformation monitoring and electrical correction functions has a potential application prospect in the future mobile vehicle.

  • Synthesis, characterization and photophysical properties of meso-indole-boron-dipyrromethene derivatives and their cell imaging and viscosity sensing

    摘要: Based on the molecular design and structural modification of boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY), two new BODIPY derivatives with meso-substituted functional indole moieties were successfully prepared. These new compounds were characterized by NMR, HRMS and FTIR, exhibiting the different UV-vis and PL spectral phenomena because of their varied molecular structures in various solvents and different degrees of negative solvatochromism. Theoretical calculations and CV results show that the substituted NO2 group at 5-position of indole is favorable for increasing the oxidation potential of the molecules, while the NH2 group is the opposite. These two BODIPY derivatives have different sensitivities to pH changes, and can be appropriately applied as cell imaging materials due to their good physical chemical characteristics and excellent biocompatibility. In particular, the fluorescence characteristics of BODIPY derivative with the substituted NH2 group at 5-position of indole show a good solvent viscosity dependence, highlighting its potential application for testing the intracellular viscosity changes of the living cell in disease diagnosis.

  • Detection of land use/cover change in Egyptian Nile Delta using remote sensing

    摘要: The present study aims to assess the changes of different land use/land cover classes for Nile Delta of Egypt during the period from 1987 to 2015, to evaluate the impact of land cover change and urban sprawl, before, during and after the 25th of January 2011 using remote sensing and GIS techniques, as a result to unplanned urban sprawl which was done by people during the lack of general security of Egyptian revolution. The results indicated that there was a regular trend characterized in most classes and that the change in different land use/land cover classes ranged between increase and decrease areas. A continuous increase in agricultural, urban, ?sh farms and natural vegetation areas and a continuous decrease in water bodies and sand areas were detected in the studied area. The agricultural area recorded the highest increase during the period from 1987 to 2000 (305296.1 ha.) while it increased by 170578.1 ha., during the period from 2000 to 2015. However, in urban area, the highest increase was recorded during the period from 2000 to 2015 followed by the period 1987–2000 with mean values of 97940.8 and 53112.6 ha., respectively. The analysis of the results showed that most of Egyptian Delta governorates have been signi?cantly affected by the different classes of land use/land cover change due to agriculture activities, urban growth as a result of human activities dynamic impact.
