  • Composite BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 with core-shell nanostructure for piezoelectric and ferromagnetic applications

    摘要: In this work, we report on the synthesis and characterization of BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 biphasic composite with core-shell structure. This artificial core (BNT-BT0.08)/shell (CoFe2O4) heterostructure was prepared by sol-gel method and the resulting composite was characterized in term of microstructure, dielectric, piezoelectric and magnetic properties. BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 sintered ceramic shows high permittivity (ε′ ≥ 30) and high dielectric losses (tan δ ≥ 10) in the low frequency range (ν ≤ 104 Hz), remnant polarization (Pr) of ~7.7 μC/cm2 and, remanent magnetization (Mr) of 24 emu/g at 5 K and of 14 emu/g, at room temperature. The present study reveals that the ferroelectric, piezoelectric and magnetic properties of this new architectured composite depend on the amount of each component and, can be tailored by adjusting their synthesis conditions. BNT-BT0.08/CoFe2O4 core-shell material investigated in this work provides a novel way to exploit new applications for the multifunctional composite, such as piezoelectric sensor, magnetoelectronic sensors and data storage devices.

  • Combustion synthesis of nontoxic water-induced InYO thin film and application in thin film transistor

    摘要: In the work, novel indium yttrium oxide (InYO) thin ?lms are prepared by an environmentally friendly aqueous solution process. Y element is added to suppress the generation of oxygen vacancies. The e?ect of Y doping on the performance and stability of nontoxic water-induced InYO thin ?lm transistors (TFTs) is ?rstly examined. With the increase of Y doping contents, o?-state current is decreased and mobility decreases from 15.8 to 11.7 cm2 V?1 s?1. Furthermore, the stability under positive bias stress is also obviously improved. The device with 2 mol% Y element shows an optimized electrical performance and good stability, including mobility of 12.8 cm2/V s, threshold voltage of 1.4 V, subthreshold swing of 0.33 V/decade and threshold voltage shift of 2.31 V under positive voltage stress of 5 V for 10,000 s. The performance improvement is attributed to the decrease of oxygen vacancies and the decline of interface trap density by Y addition.

  • Preparation and Enhancement of Luminescent Intensity of New Rare Earth Molybdate NaLa(MoO4)2:Eu3+ Phosphors

    摘要: Novel red-emitting rare earth molybdate phosphors NaLa(MoO4)2:Eu3+ have been successfully synthesized by sol-gel method assisted by microwave. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fluorescence spectrophotometer, respectively. The results show that the target product NaLa(MoO4)2:Eu3+ have been synthesized by calcining precursor at 800 oC. The obtained samples belong to tetragonal Scheelite-structure and I41/a space group. The excitation spectrum of NaLa(MoO4)2:Eu3+ has a broad band in the range of 250-350 nm and the main peak is at 301 nm. The broad band can be ascribed to the charge transfer band of Mo-O and Eu-O. The sharp lines in 350-500 nm range are due to 4f-4f transitions of Eu3+. The emission spectrum contains a series of narrow peaks, with the main peak at 616 nm originated from the electric dipole transition of 5D0 → 7F2 of Eu3+. The appropriate doping amount of Bi3+ and flux NH4F can enhance luminescent intensity of the sample effectively.

  • Sol-Gel Template Synthesis and Characterization of Lu2O3:Eu3+ Nanowire Arrays

    摘要: Uniform Lu2O3:Eu3+ nanowire arrays were successfully prepared by the sol-gel process using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates. The as-synthesized nanowires are homogeneous, highly ordered, and dense and have a uniform diameter of ~300 nm defined by the AAO templates. The X-ray diffraction and selected area electron diffraction results show that the Lu2O3:Eu3+ nanowires have a polycrystalline cubic structure, and the crystallite size of the Lu2O3:Eu3+ nanowires is confined by the AAO template. The nanowires within the AAO template showed good photoluminescence and X-ray-excited optical luminescence performances for Lu2O3:Eu3+. The emission peaks were attributed to the 5D0 → 7FJ transitions of Eu3+ (J = 0, 1, 2, 3).

  • Influence of Synthesis Conditions on Microstructure and NO2 Sensing Properties of WO3 Porous Films Synthesized by Non-Hydrolytic Sol–Gel Method

    摘要: Nanostructured tungsten trioxide porous films were prepared by a non-hydrolytic sol–gel method following the inorganic route in which ethanol and PEG were used as the oxygen-donor and structure-directing reagent, respectively. The effects of aging time of the precursor solution, PEG content, and calcination temperature on the structure, morphology, and NO2 sensing properties of WO3 films were systematically investigated by using the techniques of X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and gas sensing measurements. The results demonstrated that a series of WO3 films with different microstructures could be obtained by manipulating the synthesis parameters. Furthermore, a suitable synthesis condition of WO3 films for NO2 sensing application was determined.

  • Effects of Withdrawal Speeds on Properties of ZnO Thin Films Prepared by Sol-Gel Immerse Technique

    摘要: ZnO thin films have attractive applications in photoelectric device, due to their excellent chemical, electrical and optical properties. In this paper, ZnO thin films with good c-axis preferred orientation and high transmittance are prepared on glass sheets by sol-gel immerse technique. The effects of withdrawal speeds on the growth process of thin film crystal, film crystal orientation and the crystallinity, the optical performance were investigated by XRD, SEM and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results show that the thin films were composed of better hexagonal wurtzite crystals with the c-axis prepared orientation. The transmittance of prepared thin films is over 80% in the visible-near IR region from 600 nm - 800 nm. ZnO films have sharp and narrow diffraction peaks, which indicates that the materials exhibit high crystallinity. With the withdrawal speeds increasing, the grain size of ZnO thin films and the intensity for all diffraction peaks were increased gradually. The growth model is changed from the stratified structure into the island structure in the growth process. The transmittance of the thin films decrease in the visible wavelength region, with the withdrawal speeds increasing.

  • Luminescent Electrochromic Devices for Smart Windows of Energy-Efficient Buildings

    摘要: To address the challenges of the next generation of smart windows for energy-efficient buildings, new electrochromic devices (ECDs) are introduced. These include indium molybdenum oxide (IMO), a conducting oxide transparent in the near-infrared (NIR) region, and a NIR-emitting electrolyte. The novel electrolytes are based on a sol-gel-derived di-urethane cross-linked siloxane-based host structure, including short chains of poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL(530) (where 530 represents the average molecular weight in g mol?1). This hybrid framework was doped with a combination of either, lithium triflate (LiTrif) and erbium triflate (ErTrif3), or LiTrif and bisaquatris (thenoyltri?uoroacetonate) erbium (III) ([Er(tta)3(H2O)2]). The ECD@LiTrif-[Er(tta)3(H2O)2] device presents a typical Er3+ NIR emission around 1550 nm. The ?gures of merit of these devices are high cycling stability, good reversibility, and unusually high coloration ef?ciency (CE = ?OD/?Q, where Q is the inserted/de-inserted charge density). CE values of ?8824/+6569 cm2 C?1 and ?8243/+5200 cm2 C?1 were achieved at 555 nm on the 400th cycle, for ECD@LiTrif-ErTrif3 and ECD@LiTrif-[Er(tta)3(H2O)2], respectively.

  • Influences of sol-gel progress on luminescent properties of Li <sub/>1.0</sub> Nb <sub/>0.6</sub> Ti <sub/>0.5</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> :Eu <sup>3+</sup> red phosphor

    摘要: Li1.0Nb0.6Ti0.5O3:3wt.%Eu3+ red phosphor was synthesized by sol-gel method. The influences of the pH value and the citric acid(CA)/ metal cations(M) ratio on the luminescent properties of the samples were discussed. The properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and photoluminescence spectroscopy, respectively. The results showed that the samples were consist of “M- phase”. Under the 466nm excitation, the orange emission at 592nm and the red emission at 612nm could be observed. The emission intensity increased with the increasing of pH value firstly and then decreased. The optimum pH value was 5.5. Moreover, the emission intensity decreased with the increasing of CA/M ratio. The relatively high emission intensity of the sample could be obtained when the CA/M was 3:1. Emission spectra and CIE coordinate of Li1.0Nb0.6Ti0.5O3:3wt.% Eu3+ were superior to commercial red phosphor Y2O3:Eu3+,which showed the red phosphor could have potential application in the White-LED field.

  • Sol-gel assisted nano-structured SnO<sub>2</sub> sensor for low concentration ammonia detection at room temperature

    摘要: Sol-gel assisted nano-structured SnO2 sensor for low concentration ammonia detection at room temperature. Upon exposure to 500 ppb and 1 ppm of NH3, sensor manifests appreciable response ~ 28 % and ~ 31.5 %, respectively. High response of the sensor at RT is attributed due to porous nanograins (with average particle size ~ 50 nm) based SnO2 thin film layer. Nanograins structure is obtained due to addition of glycerine in the sol solution, which also leads to porosity enhancement of the sensing layer. Good reproducibility and appreciable immunity to drift behavior are other attributes of the fabricated device. High response and good selectivity towards ammonia are observed with very fast response and recovery time at RT, for extreme low concentrations level ~ 55 % RH for concentration range 500 ppb-500 ppm. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results are used to study the structural, chemical composition, topography and morphological characteristics of the prepared SnO2 thin film, respectively.

  • The Sol-Gel Method: Pathway to Ultrapure and Homogeneous Mixed Metal Oxide Nanoparticles

    摘要: This article includes an overview of current research on metal oxides and mixed (heterobi-) metal oxides prepared by sol-gel method using variety of precursors which created interest among scientists and technologists due to their structure, reactivity as well as application in almost every field of science. Sol-gel method is a soft-chemistry method requires mild reaction conditions, less equipments as well as produces materials with ultra purity and therefore, widely used as compared to other methods. Authors have explained hydrolytic sol-gel method with examples in the first section and compared the method with conventional solid state method. This section is further divided into subsections explaining the process using metal salts such as chlorides, nitrates, etc. and metal-organic compounds as precursor with chelating ligands, polyols, etc. The importance of using heterometallic alkoxides as precursor rather than using two different metal precursors is also explained and finally the new advancement in sol-gel method.
