A novel and facile way to fabricate transparent superhydrophobic film on glass with self-cleaning and stability
摘要: Transparency is one of the most important properties of superhydrophobic (SHP) surface applied on outdoor solar cells and other outdoor windows. In this work, transparent SHP ZnO surface was fabricated via RF magnetron sputtering method. The effect of film thickness and surface roughness on the wettability and optical property of the as-prepared surfaces were investigated. Results show that the as-prepared SHP ZnO surface with sputtering time of 2 min exhibits excellent self-cleaning property and stability against corrosive rain, various environmental temperatures and impacting water droplet with high velocity. The fabrication process is stable and easy to control, which can largely widen the applications of the as-prepared transparent SHP surfaces.

Synthesis and characterization of optically transparent semi-aromatic polyimide films with low fluorine content
摘要: A series of novel semi-aromatic polyimides with low fluorine content were prepared from alicyclic dianhydrides, i.e. 1,2,4,5-cyclohexane-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (CHDA) and bicyclo[2.2.2]octa-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BCDA), and three aromatic diamines containing ortho-substituted methyl and pendent phenyl groups, respectively. These polyimides exhibited excellent solubility even though their fluorine content lower than 10 wt.%. Chemical resistance to MEK and aqueous alkali of films was also satisfied for application as flexible substrates. The semi-aromatic polyimides showed outstanding heat resistance with Tg values up to 387 oC and good mechanical strength. These films had excellent optical transparency with cutoff wavelengths of 282-286 nm, transmittance >89% at 500 nm and yellowness indices <14.8. Especially, PIBF-3 and PIBF-6 were extremely transparent and very light color with thickness of 70 μm. Their improved optical transparency and elimination of coloration was mainly attributed to weakened electrophilicity of alicyclic dianhydrides, steric hindrance and distorted non-coplanar caused by ortho-substituted and bulky pendent groups.

Rephasing efficiency of sequences of phased pulses in spin-echo and light-storage experiments
摘要: We investigate the rephasing efficiency of sequences of phased pulses for spin echoes and light storage by electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). We derive a simple theoretical model and show that the rephasing efficiency is very sensitive to the phases of the imperfect rephasing pulses. The obtained efficiency differs substantially for spin echoes and EIT light storage, which is due to the spatially retarded coherence phases after EIT light storage. Similar behavior is also expected for other light-storage protocols with spatial retardation or for rephasing of collective quantum states with an unknown or undefined phase, e.g., as relevant in single-photon storage. We confirm the predictions of our theoretical model by experiments in a Pr3+:Y2SiO5 crystal.

Highly Conductive and Transparent AZO Films Fabricated by PLD as Source/Drain Electrodes for TFTs
摘要: Aluminum-doped ZnO (AZO) has huge prospects in the field of conductive electrodes, due to its low price, high transparency, and pro-environment. However, enhancing the conductivity of AZO and realizing ohmic contact between the semiconductor and AZO source/drain (S/D) electrodes without thermal annealing remains a challenge. Here, an approach called pulsed laser deposition (PLD) is reported to improve the comprehensive quality of AZO films due to the high energy of the laser and non-existence of the ion damage. The 80-nm-thick AZO S/D electrodes show remarkable optical properties (transparency: 90.43%, optical band gap: 3.42 eV), good electrical properties (resistivity: 16 × 10?4 ?·cm, hall mobility: 3.47 cm2/V·s, carrier concentration: 9.77 × 1020 cm?3), and superior surface roughness (Rq = 1.15 nm with scanning area of 5 × 5 μm2). More significantly, their corresponding thin film transistor (TFT) with low contact resistance (RSD = 0.3 M?) exhibits excellent performance with a saturation mobility (μsat) of 8.59 cm2/V·s, an Ion/Ioff ratio of 4.13 × 106, a subthreshold swing (SS) of 0.435 V/decade, as well as good stability under PBS/NBS. Furthermore, the average transparency of the unpatterned multi-films composing this transparent TFT can reach 78.5%. The fabrication of this TFT can be suitably transferred to transparent arrays or flexible substrates, which is in line with the trend of display development.

The puzzle of transparency and how to solve it
摘要: According to the transparency approach, achievement of self-knowledge is a two-stage process: first, the subject arrives at the judgment 'p'; second, the subject proceeds to the judgment 'I believe that p.' The puzzle of transparency is to understand why the transition from the first to the second judgment is rationally permissible. After revisiting the debate between Byrne and Boyle on this matter, I present a novel solution according to which the transition is rationally permissible in virtue of a justifying argument that begins from a premise referring to the mental utterance that is emitted in the course of judging 'p.'

The effect of pre-annealing and post-annealing on the transparency of MgAl2O4, prepared by slip casting and spark plasma sintering (SPS)
摘要: The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of slip casting process and the annealing before and after sintering to achieve a transparent MgAl2O4. To remove contaminants such as carbon from the structure of shaped spinel bodies, at first, the samples were annealed at temperature of 800 °C, 900 °C and 1000 °C for 2 h and then sintered at 1400 °C. By annealing the sample before sintering at 900 °C, the transmission increased (15% at IR region and 10% at visible region). Although by annealing the samples, the amount of carbon contamination reduced. Annealing the samples after sintering also had some desirable results. The samples annealed at temperature of 1200 °C for a time of 3, 5 and 10 h. The darkness of samples reduced due to the removal of carbon impurities and the sample was annealed at 1200 °C for 5 h had the most transparency in the visible and infrared regions.

Vacuum-enhanced optical nonlinearities with disordered molecular photoswitches
摘要: It is well known that nonlinear optical signals such as cross-phase modulation can be coherently enhanced in multilevel atomic gases under conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency, but analogous results in solids are challenging to obtain due to natural energetic disorder. We propose a solid-state cavity QED scheme to enable cross-phase modulation between two arbitrarily weak classical fields in the optical domain, using a highly disordered intracavity medium composed of organic molecular photoswitches. Even in the presence of strong energetic and orientational disorder, the unique spectral properties of organic photoswitches can be used to enhance the desired nonlinearity under conditions of vacuum-induced transparency, enabling cross-phase modulation signals that surpass the detection limit imposed by absorption losses. Possible applications of the scheme include integrated all-optical switching with low photon numbers.

Deformation-induced transparency resolves color scission
摘要: Dynamic image deformation produces the perception of a transparent material that appears to deform the background image by light refraction. Since past studies on this phenomenon have mainly used subjective judgment about the presence of a transparent layer, it remains unsolved whether this is a real perceptual transparency effect in the sense that it forms surface representations, as do conventional transparency effects. Visual computation for color and luminance transparency, induced mainly by surface-contour information, can be decomposed into two components: surface formation to determine foreground and background layers, and scission to assign color and luminance to each layer. Here we show that deformation-induced perceptual transparency aids surface formation by color transparency and consequently resolves color scission. We asked observers to report the color of the front layer in a spatial region with a neutral physical color. The layer color could be seen as either reddish or greenish depending on the spatial context producing the color transparency, which was, however, ambiguous about the order of layers. We found that adding to the display a deformation-induced transparency that could specify the front layer significantly biased color scission in the predicted way if and only if the deformation-induced transparency was spatially coincident with the interpretation of color transparency. The results indicate that deformation-induced transparency is indeed a novel type of perceptual transparency that plays a role in surface formation in cooperation with color transparency.

Pulse delay and group velocity dispersion measurement in V-type electromagnetically induced transparency of hot <sup>85</sup>Rb atom
摘要: Pulse delay with the group velocity dispersion (GVD) characteristics was studied in the V-system configuration. The phase coherency between the pump and the probe laser beams was maintained. We studied the pulse delay and the GVD characteristics with the variation of the type electromagnetically induced transparency in the hyperfine levels of 85Rb atoms with a closed electromagnetically induced transparency of hot 85Rb atom. For a better understanding of the experimental results, we have derived an analytical solution for the three level V-type system. The theoretical plots of the delay and the group velocity dispersion show the same characteristics as we observed in the experiment. This analytical approach can be further generalized for the higher level schemes to calculate different quantities such as susceptibility, group velocity delay or group velocity dispersion characteristics.

Residual porosity and optical properties of spark plasma sintered transparent polycrystalline cerium-doped YAG
摘要: Transparent cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Ce:YAG) phosphors are promising candidates for high-power white light emitting diode applications. In the present study, Ce:YAG powder was synthesized by a co-precipitation method and highly transparent ceramics were fabricated by spark plasma sintering. The effects of temperature and pressure, as well as post-sintering treatments (annealing or hot isostatic pressing), on residual porosity were studied by electron and confocal laser microscopy. Correlation between residual porosity characteristics (pore size and volume fraction) and optical properties (in-line transmittance and photoluminescence intensity) of the luminescent transparent ceramics was established.
