    摘要: Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) is a ceramic multilayer material with properties that suit well as both as a substrate and packaging material. LTCCs multilayer capabilities, excellent electrical properties, extremely high reliability and full hermetic nature suit it to a wide range of RF applications. Several frequency bands of interest from 100 GHz up to 300 GHz could potentially benefit from the use of LTCC system in package devices. To test the ability of LTCC materials at these frequencies, several grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) on 35-60 μm thick LTCC substrates were manufactured with the help of high-resolution Aerosol Jet printing technique and measured from 1-320 GHz (Ferro A6M-E) and 1-220 GHz, respectively (DuPont 9k7). For the first time, LTCC material are characterized as mm-wave circuit substrates at the frequency band of 220-320 GHz.

    摘要: In this article, we study a UWB pulsed Doppler radar system for heart rate and respiratory rate monitoring for transmitted signal power of less than -41dBm as recommended by Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Performance of the system is analysed in the presence of noise. The heart rate and respiratory rate was obtained in frequency domain from the chest displacement after phase demodulating the received signal. Result shows that mean square error (MSE) of 0.2 to .1 for heart rate monitoring and 0.1 to 0.001 for respiratory rate with SNR in the range of -10dB to 100dB can be obtained with different distance of subject from the radar. We can monitor the heart and respiratory rates even at 10m distance of subject from radar.

    摘要: In this paper, a novel frequency-selective rasorber (FSR) which has a transmission band between two absorption bands is proposed. The FSR is composed of curved metal sheets with lumped resistors printed on a dielectric substrate and a frequency selective surface (FSS) used as the ground plane of the absorber. An equivalent circuit model of the structure is given for analyzing its operation mechanism. A good stability of the transmission and two-band absorption under the incident angle o30 for TE and TM polarizations has been obtained.

    摘要: This paper reports the design and simulation of a 10 GHz VCO using a RF MEMS solenoid inductor. We have studied four solenoid inductors using an FEM software: we have focused our work to evaluate the effect of dielectric substrate and metal on the inductors responses. Higher performances are obtained using copper coil and SU8 dielectric substrate: SRF= 20.8 GHz, Qmax= 60.9, and L = 2.6 nH at 10 GHz. Afterwards, we have designed and investigated a cross-coupled CMOS VCO based on the best RF MEMS solenoid inductor. The obtained results show a wide tuning range TR = 46% for frequency varying from 10 GHz to 14.6 GHz; and also a good linearity of frequency variations in response to control voltage. Moreover, output signals present a high voltage upper than 1.2 V and a low phase-noise PN = -102.37 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz. In addition, the spectral analyze show that the output peak power reaches 14.56 dBm at a center frequency of 10 GHz; the second harmonic is less than -58.9 dBm.

  • Synthesis Technique for Low-Loss mm-Wave T/R Combiners for TDD Front-Ends

    摘要: A time-division duplex (TDD) transmit/receive (T/R) millimeter-wave (mm-wave) front-end comprises a power amplifier (PA), a low-noise amplifier (LNA), an antenna switch, and appropriate passive matching and combining networks. In this paper, a synthesis methodology is proposed that minimizes the overall losses by combining the PA output and the LNA input matching networks together with the T/R switch into one network. The technique improves mm-wave transceiver performance in terms of PA efficiency and LNA noise figure. The proposed T/R combiner can achieve high linearity and can handle large PA output voltage swings. The architecture can be implemented in any process which provides high integration capability. A Ka-band implementation is demonstrated using 45 nm CMOS silicon-on-insulator that includes a high power, four-stack-based PA and an inductively source-degenerated cascode-based LNA. Within the front-end, the PA achieves saturated output power of 23.6 dBm with peak power added efficiency of 28%, while the LNA achieves NF of 3.2 dB. The overall chip area is 0.54 mm2, including pads.

  • Strain effect on band structure of InAlAs digital alloy

    摘要: Recently, InAlAs digital alloys have been shown to exhibit unique electronic dispersion properties, which can be used to make low-noise avalanche photodiodes. In this paper, the strain effect is analyzed for its impact on the band structure of the InAlAs digital alloy. Simulation using a tight binding model that includes the strain effect yields bandgap energies that are consistent with experimental results. The bandgap would be larger without strain. In addition, a positive relationship has been found between minigaps of the InAlAs digital alloy and the band offset between bulk InAs and AlAs at the same position in k-space.

  • Compact Dual-Band Coupler for Vehicular Beam-Forming Array

    摘要: A novel kind of compact dual-band quadrature patch coupler for vehicular beam-forming array is proposed for the first time in this paper. To keep the performance of the first operating frequency 2.4 GHz (for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)) and generate the second operating frequency 5.9 GHz (for Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC)) simultaneously, complementary triangular split resonant rings (CTSRRs) and splitting gaps are employed to improve the performance of this new coupler; final size of the proposed coupler is 0.24???? (for 2.4 GHz). To validate the performance and design method of the coupler this paper proposed, a 3D model is constructed and optimized with ANSOFT HFSS firstly and then a coupler prototype is fabricated and measured. The measured results show that the amplitude unbalance (AU) is 0.54 dB and 0.44 dB for 2.4 GHz and 5.9 GHz, respectively, and the corresponding phase unbalance (PU) is 93.5 and 92 degrees, respectively.

    摘要: A simple U-slot microstrip patch antenna for wide band mmW beam scanning is designed and presented. The patch antenna is very simple and simulated result shows that the antenna has a wide relative bandwidth of 21.92% in the mmWave frequency band from 23.15GHz to 28.85GHz. Moreover, the patch’s radiation pattern possesses a 100 (cid:101)(cid:101) beam width at 28GHz, providing the capability of large-angle beam scanning.

    摘要: In this paper, a novel Fractal Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (FCDRA) is presented for Ultra-Wide Band applications is constructed by 300, 600, 1200 angular portion of cylinder with radius ratio (1:2:3). Stacking of Rogers 3010 (εr =10.2) and FR- 4 (εr =4.4) dielectric materials are used in proposed antenna for enhancement of the bandwidth. This fractal geometry offers 9.2 GHz operating bandwidth which spans from 3.6 GHz – 12.8 GHz. Proposed antenna attains maximum gain of 9.45 dBi with more than 89% efficiency which is suitable for satellite communication, WiMAX application. Hybrid Electromagnetic HE11δ, HE12δ modes are identified at 4.43 GHz & 8.31 GHz resonant frequencies respectively.

  • Influence of complexing agent on the growth of chemically deposited Ni3Pb2S2 thin films

    摘要: Ni3Pb2S2 thin films were prepared by chemical bath deposition method. Here, the objective of this research is to investigate the influence of complexing agent on the properties of films.These films were characterized using atomic force microscopy, UV-Visible spectrophotometery and X-ray diffraction. It was found that the increase in the concentration of tartaric acid, film thickness increased, but, the band gap reduced. For the films prepared using 0.1M of tartaric acid, were found uniform and completely covered with the substrates.
