    摘要: With the increasing penetration of both grid connected and standalone photovoltaic (PV) systems in Pakistan to cater the shortfall of energy, it is necessary to determine the performance and durability of already installed PV systems in different climates of country. This work aims to analyze the performance of first grid connected PV power plant located in Islamabad, Pakistan. The performance degradation of PV plants primarily depends on PV modules type (technology and design), regional climatic factors and field operating conditions. In this paper, performance ratio (PR) and degradation rate have been calculated from meteorological and performance data of plant to investigate the energy efficiency and modules quality over the course of operational years. Temperature losses due to module operating temperature were also estimated that primarily contribute to overall energy losses. This evaluation is of paramount importance for estimating the cost effect of the performance, identification of the underlying performance degradation and energy losses mechanisms, that help investors to choose climate specific modules technology and design for future plants and also to make efficient scheduling for preventive maintenance.

    摘要: The dropping market prices of power generated from solar photovoltaics is making it an attractive option for decentralized power in the form of rooftop and ground mounted systems. In the present scenario, the presence of solar photovoltaics in the energy mix is continuously increasing. Thus, it is important to monitor the performance of these systems to identify deviations from expected performance and to maintain higher system efficiency. This paper presents the details of performance analysis study conducted on a 48 kWp rooftop solar PV system located in the Northern India monitored over a 1 year period. The actual measured values of system performance parameters are compared to results obtained from simulating the systems using the PVsyst software. The values estimated using PVsyst for performance ratio and yearly average of system efficiency are 82% and 13.67%. The yearly average value of CUF estimated is 16.14%.The results of this study can aid in providing a glimpse into the operation of solar PV systems operating in the North Indian climate and can help in carrying out future comparative studies. The results obtained in the current study are also compared with the performance parameters of other plants operating in India.

  • Photovoltaic Degradation Rate Affected by Different Weather Conditions: A Case Study Based on PV Systems in the UK and Australia

    摘要: This article presents the analysis of degradation rate over 10 years (2008 to 2017) for six different photovoltaic (PV) sites located in the United Kingdom (mainly affected by cold weather conditions) and Australia (PV affected by hot weather conditions). The analysis of the degradation rate was carried out using the year-on-year (YOY) degradation technique. It was found that the degradation rate in the UK systems varies from ?1.05% and ?1.16%/year. Whereas a higher degradation ranging from ?1.35% to ?1.46%/year is observed for the PV systems installed in Australia. Additionally, it was found that in the Australian PV systems multiple faulty PV bypass diodes are present due to the rapid change in the ambient temperature and uneven solar irradiance levels influencing the PV modules. However, in cold weather conditions (such as in the Northern UK) none of the bypass diodes were damaged over the considered PV exposure period. Furthermore, the number of PV hot spots have also been observed, where it was found that in the UK-based PV systems the number of hot spotted PV modules are less than those found in the Australian systems. Finally, the analysis of the monthly performance ratio (PR) was calculated. It was found that the mean monthly PR is equal to 88.81% and 86.35% for PV systems installed in the UK and Australia, respectively.

  • Implementation of agrophotovoltaics: Techno-economic analysis of the price-performance ratio and its policy implications

    摘要: Rising demand for solar power generation will lead to increased land use competition, and thus to potential economic and social conflict. A solution to this challenge is to produce food and energy within an agrophotovoltaics (APV) system. Since 2017, governments in Japan, France, Massachusetts (USA), South Korea, and China have introduced policies supporting APV implementation. Governments considering APV implementation – e.g. in India and Germany – for evidence-based policy making are demanding information on how levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of APV differs from that of conventional ground-mounted photovoltaics (PV), as well as on how additional costs associated with APV installation relate to the benefit of maintaining agricultural activity under APV. Data for a techno-economic price-performance ratio calculation has been retrieved from an inter- and transdisciplinary APV case study in Germany. We observed that the LCOE of APV with €0.0828 kWh?1 is 38% higher than that of ground-mounted PV, resulting in an annual cropland preservation price of €9,052 ha?1 a?1. The annual revenue of potato and winter wheat production under APV resulted in a performance of €10,707 ha?1 a?1 and €1,959 ha?1 a?1 respectively, leading to a beneficial price-performance ratio of 0.85 for potato production and, with a ratio of 4.62, a disadvantageous result for winter wheat. Overall, APV is not necessarily recommended in crop rotating systems. However, in combination with permanent cultures – e.g. berries, fruits, or wine grapes – as the price for these types of applications is lower, while at the same time providing higher performance by optimizing techno-ecological synergies.

  • Bench marking of grid tied solar roof top photovoltaic system: a case comparison

    摘要: Indian power sector having the target of 175GW of power from renewable energy, out of that 40 GW from Rooftop solar Photovoltaic system by 2022. The installed capacity of solar photovoltaic until 2017 is about 14.77 GW only. Even though in depth study has been carried out on the performance analysis, there is no bench marking has been arrived for the Indian Roof Top Solar PV system. Hence this paper has made an attempt by calculating the various parameters like performance ratio, plant capacity utilization ratio for the two 20KWp grid connected rooftop power plant in Telangana state. In addition to the above, it needs to do in depth analysis of power quality issues on roof top grid tied system.

    摘要: Recently, energy has been highlighting in global and Brazilian scenarios. This study aims to estimate the performance ratio of grid-connected photovoltaic systems in the Paraná state, in Brazil, for four different photovoltaic technologies, and the annual energy generated. The knowledge of this rate is relevant to determine the performance of these systems. In low temperatures, the polycrystalline silicon systems reached higher performance rates, while in high temperatures, the cadmium telluride systems presented better performance. Concluding, the performance ratio varies in different ways for the photovoltaic technologies studied, according to the temperature. The produced energy in Curitiba was higher in comparison with the other cities, the final amount influences the distribution grid and there is a need of further studies to analyze in deep its impact and adequacy with the smart grids.

    摘要: Today most of the countries are fulfilling their energy need from fossil fuel resources, which are vastly depleting and era of fossil fuel is gradually ending. Power generation using fossil fuel is creating harmful effect on environment, leading to global warming which has become matter of great concern. Massive use of these fuels, release large amount of waste heat, causing thermal pollution in surrounding area, leading to destroy of various types of plant and animal life. In case of nuclear power plants, disposal of radioactive wastes and release of radioactivity during accident creates long term sever problems. Therefore every country is now embarking on search of alternative sources of energy, specifically, solar energy, which is inexhaustible source of energy and freely available in almost all parts of the world. Our research team suggested solar PV plant of 10 Kwp for Shree Samarth Agro-Tech Foundation, Which is a small scale Agricultural based business enterprise operated by farmer’s self-help group, located in Solapur District of Maharashtra State, India. Thus, our research team, tried to provide technology up gradation to these conventional diesel generator powered jaggery making units that helps in reducing green house gas (GHG) emission. Detailed performance analysis of the proposed system will be carried out using PVsyst simulation tool.

  • Performance evaluation of 12?kW <sub/>P</sub> rooftop grid-connected photovoltaic plant installed under net metering in Delhi, India

    摘要: This paper presents the performance analysis of 12 kWP rooftop grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) plant installed under net metering Regulation of State Electricity Regulatory Commission in Delhi, India. The analysis is based on the evaluation of various performance parameters such as monthly average reference, array and final yield of PV plant. The highest values of monthly average reference, array and final yield of 4.67, 4.15, and 4.06 h/d, respectively, were recorded for the duration of the analysis. The total annual energy generation for the place is 1147 kWh/kWp. This computes to 13.1% annual average utilisation capacity of the plant. Additionally, the performance ratio of Delhi is observed to be the highest (between 85 and 93%) among other existing PV plant locations.

  • Effect of Irradiance Measurement Sensors on the Performance Ratio of Photovoltaic Power Plant Under Real Operating Conditions: An Experimental Assessment in Turkey

    摘要: The performance analysis of photovoltaic (PV) plants plays an important role in making investment decisions, creating more efficient designs, and in the operation and maintenance decisions in new plants. In addition, performance analysis provides a way to identify real-time operational problems and allows comparisons among different PV plants. Performance of PV plants can be indexed with many parameters, but service providers are giving energy guarantees according to their performance ratio (PR). There are many factors that affect PR, such as irradiation, temperature, wind speed, humidity and soiling. But, the most important factors affecting PR are irradiation and temperature. Hence, both the irradiation and the temperature must be measured correctly. Solar irradiation is usually measured with a pyranometer or reference cell. However, there are differences between the obtained data from these two sensors, which affects the PR significantly. In this study, the PR of an MW PV plant installed in Turkey was investigated. Two types of irradiation sensors (pyranometer and reference cells) and PVGIS program were used. The data were collected every 5 min during 1 year. The data passed through quality control and filtered process and some improper values were removed from the row data set. In addition, new data were written instead of the missing data. PR was calculated by using conventional and corrected method. As a result, the average annual PR is determined to be 81.05%, 79.04% and 78.96% and the corrected PR is determined to be 83.69%, 82.48% and 80.87% using the reference cell, pyranometer and PVGIS program, respectively.

  • Online monitoring of roof-mounted stand-alone solar photovoltaic system on residential building

    摘要: Advancement in solar photovoltaic (SPV) system technologies over past decades has resulted in regular decrease in prices of the systems world-over. The number of installations is projected to increase manifolds due to proactive Government policies and support for market development. There is need to study performance of already installed systems and establish benchmarks of expected performance in a given region. The benchmarks will be useful for performance contractors as well as users of the systems. Also, there is growing need to create awareness among stakeholders about scope for enhancing performance of the system through effective operation and maintenance of the systems. In the present work, we analyze performance of recently installed roof-mounted stand-alone solar photovoltaic system on a residential building, that is equipped with internet based online performance monitoring platform. This is the ?rst of its kind of work in the region, reporting results of monitoring of performance of a remotely located system, over a period of one full year in the state of Goa, India. The data has been acquired at regular intervals of ten minutes for one year using the platform for online performance monitoring. The results con?rm that the online performance monitoring platform is a potentially advantageous feature of the system for both system integrators as well as system operators or users. The results provide useful basis for comparison of performance in terms of performance ratio and energy yield of the system. The results are also useful for predicting performance and maximizing capacity utilization of the system.
