  • Polyvinyl Alcohol/Silver nanoparticles film prepared via pulsed laser ablation: An eco-friendly nano-catalyst for 4-nitrophenol degradation

    摘要: This work attempts to introduce an eco-friendly nano-catalyst PVA/AgNPs portable film for 4-nitrophenol degradation. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) doped Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) film has been synthesized via one-potential pulsed laser ablation in liquids (PLAL) technique. The structural, optical, and morphological studies of the synthesized PVA/AgNPs nanocomposite film have been characterized by different techniques such as; XRD, FT-IR, UVeVis, PL, FE-SEM, and EDAX. From X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), it is approved that the synthesized PVA/AgNPs film is polycrystalline with cubic structure form. From UVeVisible spectroscopy, the energy band gap was determined by using tauc relation, which was found to be 3.7eV for direct transition. From morphological study, FE-SEM photos of the synthesized PVA/AgNPs film show the homogeneous distributed spherical-like shape of silver nanoparticles in PVA. The qualitative and semi-quantitative elemental analysis of the prepared samples via EDAX technique confirmed the embedding of the silver nanoparticles in the PVA structure. The amazing performance of the prepared PVA/AgNPs film in catalytic degradation activity for 4-nitrophenol reduction has been investigated, which lead to degrade 93% of 4-nitrrophenol in 25 min.

  • Waveguides written in silver-doped tellurite glasses

    摘要: We have studied the optical properties of channel waveguides written using a femtosecond laser in tellurite-zinc glasses doped with metallic silver (%TeO2%ZnO:Ag). Our findings showed that the tellurium dioxide glasses could be significantly affected by the silver presence, even with low silver concentration. By properly choosing the parameters and glassy matrix the written waveguides presented lower optical insertion losses and greater refractive index change.

  • Low-cost and high sensitivity glucose sandwich detection using a plasmonic nanodisk metasurface

    摘要: Glucose detection using Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy has aroused considerable attention due to its potential in the prevention and diagnosis of diabetes as a result of its unique molecular fingerprinting capability, ultrahigh sensitivity and minimal interference from water. Despite numerous solutions to improve the sensitivity of glucose detection, the development of a new SERS-based strategy to detect glucose with high sensitivity and low-cost is still required. In this study, we propose a simple and sensitive SERS-based plasmonic metasurface sensing platform for a glucose sandwich assay using self-assembled p-mercapto-phenylboronic acid (PMBA) monolayers on a gold nanodisk (Au-ND) metasurface and synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) modified with a mixture of p-aminothiophenol (PATP) and PMBA. The localized near-field of the proposed plasmonic metasurface is markedly enhanced due to the coupling between the Au-ND and Ag NPs, which greatly improves detection sensitivity. The experimental results show that SERS signals of the glucose assay are significantly enhanced by more than 8-fold, in comparison with the SERS substrate of smooth Au film and Ag NPs. Moreover, the plasmonic metasurface-based glucose sandwich assay exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity for glucose over fructose and galactose. The developed plasmonic metasurface sensing platform shows enormous potential for highly sensitive and selective SERS-based glucose detection and opens a new avenue for scalable and cost-effective biosensing applications in the future.

  • Rapid and selective detection of trace Cu2+ by accumulation- reaction-based Raman spectroscopy

    摘要: Developing detection method for trace copper ions (Cu2+) has attracted great attention since Cu2+ ions would threaten to human health, including cellular toxicity, liver damage, and neuro degenerative diseases. In this work, adding L-cysteine (L-Cys) into inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) modi?ed Ag nanoparticles (designated as L-Cys/IP6@Ag) induces the certain aggregation of nanoparticles, resulting in increasng the surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signal of rhodamine 6 G (R6 G). The presence of Cu2+ ions could be adsorbed by IP6 and the concentrated Cu2+ ions could further selectively oxide Cys molecules under certain pH value, which disperses the IP6@Ag again and decreases the SERS signal of R6 G. The linear range of determination of Cu2+ ions is from 10-5 to 10-1° M as well as a low detection concentration is of 10 pM. Furthermore, the L-Cys/IP6@Ag-R6 G-based SERS sensor has been successfully applied to detect trace Cu2+ in river water.

  • Photo-electrochemical Behavior of Silver Nanoparticles inside Mesoporous Titania: Plasmon induced charge separation effect

    摘要: The self-assembly block copolymer method was used to synthesize mesoporous titania films and silver nanoparticles (NPs) were grown inside the films. Such silver NPs-titania films are known for their multicolor photochromic properties, due to a photo-oxidation reaction of silver in the presence of titania under light excitation which is attributed to a plasmon induced charge separation (PICS). Here, the photo-electrochemical properties of these composite films have been investigated at different light wavelengths and chemical environment in order to characterize the light-induced redox reactivity modifications. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) study shows that the Ag+ electro-reduction peak potential varies depending on the light irradiation, which determines the state of the silver nanoparticles complexed or not by titania.

  • Rapid fabrication of silver nanoparticle/polydopamine functionalized polyester fibers

    摘要: In this paper, silver nanoparticles functionalized poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers with antimicrobial activity, electrical conductivity and good coating stability are reported. Firstly, silver plated PET fibers were fabricated by rapid polydopamine (PDA) modification followed by electroless plating. Secondly, the surface morphologies and compositions of PDA modified and silver coated PET fibers were characterized by employing scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive spectrometry. Finally, the antimicrobial properties and electrical conductivity of the silver plated PET fibers were investigated. The results showed that the silver coated PET fibers exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity to both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus (with an antimicrobial efficiency of 100 and 99.99%, respectively), and that the antimicrobial activity was well maintained after washing. The silver coated PET fibers showed electrical resistance of 0.76 Ω per 1 cm, indicating good conductivity. It was also demonstrated that the silver layer that formed had good mechanical durability, as indicated by conductivity measurements during tensile loading and observation of the surface morphology of the fibers under various modes of deformation.

  • Green Synthesis of Nano Silver on TiO2 Catalyst for Application in Oxidation of Thiophene

    摘要: The present research work describes the preparation of silver nanoparticles from silver nitrate, and Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) leaf extract, impregnation on titanium dioxide (TiO2) and evaluation of the catalytic activity of this nano silver impregnated TiO2 in the oxidation reaction of thiophene. Tertiary-butyl hydroperoxide was used as an oxidant in the reaction. The catalyst was characterized by BET, SEM, XRF, TEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XPS and TPR. The effect of process parameters such as speed of agitation, catalyst weight, oxidant to sulfur mole ratio, silver loading in the catalyst and temperature on the oxidation reaction was studied. Both pseudo-homogeneous and heterogeneous kinetic models were considered and applied for the result. The pseudo-homogeneous form of rate equation shows the reaction follows second order kinetics and is endothermic. Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model is proposed, considering the reaction as a heterogeneous one with solid catalyst and found that surface reaction is the rate controlling step. This model is well fitted with experimental data.

  • Ultrasonic-Enhanced Fabrication of Metal Nanoparticles by Laser Ablation in Liquid

    摘要: Laser ablation in liquid (LAL) is known to be a promising method for synthesizing metal nanoparticles. In this study, gold and silver nanoparticles were fabricated by ultrasonic-assisted LAL. Gold and silver plates were ablated using a neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser, with a wavelength of 532 nm and energy of 26.4 J cm?2, in distilled water in the presence and absence of an ultrasonic ?eld. The fabricated solution was analyzed with an ultraviolet?visible (UV?vis) nanoparticle colloidal spectrometer, a transmission electron microscope (TEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and ζ-potential measurement. The craters on the silver plates were analyzed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a laser microscope, and MATLAB to observe their morphology and calculate the volume to obtain the concentration of the fabricated nanoparticle solution. Optical emissions were observed to study the characteristics of the laser. The results showed that ultrasonic-assisted LAL has considerable potential for fabricating superior metal nanoparticles.

  • DNA detection by dye labeled oligonucleotides using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

    摘要: Dye labeled oligonucleotides have been applied to detection of DNA with high sensitivity using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Duplex formation of dye labeled oligonucleotides with DNA targets, followed by selective conjugation with silver nanoparticles, made it possible to determine the optimal distance between the SERS label and the silver surface, which was necessary for strong signal enhancement. For all Rh6G labeled oligonucleotides the limits of detection were 3 fmol dm–3, while for Cy3 labeled oligonucleotides the signal enhancement depended on the distance between Cy3 dye and silver nanoparticles.

  • Fabrication of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells by the Plasmonic Effect of Silver Nanoparticles and Basella Alba Dye

    摘要: Dye-sensitized Solar cells are the most promising devices among third-generation solar cells because of low cost, easy production, environmental friendliness, and relatively high conversion efficiency. In this present work, the power conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell has been increased by incorporating silver nanoparticles into TiO2 photo anodes. TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method. Silver nanoparticles were prepared by chemical reduction method. As prepared TiO2 nanoparticles were annealed at 300?c for 2h.TiO2 have been characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. From XRD the average particle size was calculated as 49nm and it exhibits a tetragonal shape, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy confirms the spherical shape in nature. The silver nanoparticles were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy and UV-visible spectroscopy. From the characterisation results it was found that the silver nanoparticles are spherical in shape and shows the maximum absorption peak at 437nm. Organic dye from Basella Alba fruit extract was used and it was subjected to different temperatures and were coated on the cells. The prepared Solar cells were characterized by current-voltage (I/V) characteristics and efficiencies of Solar cells were calculated.
