Water-sensitive ratiometric fluorescent probes and application to test strip for rapid and reversible detection of water
摘要: Naphthalimide-decorated fluorinated acetamides 1 and 2 were developed as solvent-sensitive dual emissive fluorescence probes. Particularly, 1 exhibited dual emission with a large Stokes shift for water, DMF, and DMSO solvents over other various organic solvents. The dual emission might be due to the increase of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) of the naphthalimide moiety through the association of the difluorinated acetamide group with the solvent molecules. The 1 can give rise to a ratiometric change in the dual emission and a visual fluorescent color change depending on the water contents in organic solvents, including ethanol, methanol, acetonitrile and DMF solvents. Moreover, the 1-impregnated paper strips showed a rapid and easy-to-visualize fluorescent color change enabling water detection in organic solvents. These simple-to-use paper strips were also found to be reusable over 20 times.

摘要: Losses in the phase shifters of phased arrays are one of the main limitations of these reconfigurable antennas. This contribution presents the design and measured results of variable phase shifters on triplicate suspended transmission lines in the microwave X-band for variable pointing radar applications. The antenna assembly remains passive and with a very low level of losses in the power distribution network and the phase shifters. PIN or varactor diodes are used to control the load on the transmission line. Each of these components has advantages and disadvantages that are discussed in the communication.

Gold nanoparticles of different shape for bicolor lateral flow test
摘要: Spherical gold nanoparticles are the most commonly used marker in lateral flow assays. However, the widespread practice of using identical coloration for the test and control zones of test strips can lead to erroneous interpretations of the assay’s results. We propose an immunochromatographic test strip with lines of different colors. For this purpose, gold nanoparticles of different shapes were used, namely blue nanoflowers in the test zone and red gold nanospheres in the control zone. A detailed synthesis procedure for nanoparticles and their conjugates is considered and design parameters for optimal results are described. For the first time, nanoparticles of different shapes have been combined in the test strip with indirect labeling of specific antibodies (via their interaction with labeled secondary antibodies). Using the T-2 toxin (T2T) as an example, an instrumental detection limit of 30 pg/mL and a working range 0.06-0.9 ng/mL were achieved in an analysis of water-organic corn extracts.

A novel non-enzymatic zinc oxide thin film based electrochemical recyclable strip with device interface for quantitative detection of catechol in water
摘要: Catechol, one of the major effluents released by various chemical and metal processing industries, causes severe pollution of groundwater. Monitoring of catechol in water using cost-effective, handheld sensor is demanding for the safety of the environment. In this work, non-enzymatic zinc oxide thin film based electrochemical strip sensor is developed on conducting glass substrate for detection of catechol. The preparation of strip without employing standard Pt or Ag/AgCl electrodes and simply depositing ZnO through wet chemical process represents a cost-effective innovative technique. The ZnO thin film is characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and grazing incidence X-ray diffractrometer (GIXRD). Catechol is electrochemically detected by means of cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. A prominent redox peak of the developed strip attributed to the detection of catechol is observed at -0.26 V in cyclic voltammetry. The strip is integrated with readout meter and an algorithm is built based on the experimentally observed linear variation of amperometric current with catechol concentration. The quantitative detection performance is demonstrated by testing 0.1-12 ppm catechol solutions.

摘要: Two-dimensional (2-D) scattering of the H-polarized plane wave by a composite flat material strip is investigated. It is made as graphene-dielectric-graphene sandwich-like structure which is placed in the free space. Our modeling uses singular integral equations and Nystrom discretization. The scattering cross-section and the absorption cross-section are computed, together with the relative error plots for the current and the far field. The surface plasmon resonances on the graphene strips and the thin dielectric layer performance are evaluated.

Assessment of solar energy potential in Gaza Strip-Palestine
摘要: Renewable energy sources and technologies have the potential to provide solutions to the energy problems. Solar energy can be an important part of the Palestinian’s strategies not only to add a new capacity but also to increase energy security, addressing the environmental concerns. In this paper, e?orts have been made to summarize the current status, availability, and future potential of solar energy options in Gaza Strip. Solar radiation data was provided by Meteoblue AG – Switzerland [www.meteoblue.com] as hourly time-series for 15 years from 2000 to 2015 for ?ve cities in Gaza Strip, which are geographically presenting the entire Gaza Strip. Jabalia, Gaza, Deir-Albalah, Khan-Yunis, and Rafah. These data are used directly to evaluate the potential of solar energy in the three selected sites by means of the System Advisor Model (SAM) from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) software. The potential of solar energy in Palestine using Photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating (CS) solar systems have been discussed. The present study can be considered as a road-map to get out of the electricity crisis in the Gaza Strip and to end the su?ering of Gazians. In this work, two scenarios are suggested, the ?rst one is urgent, it stipulates to generate the demand load (552 GWh/year) by means of (PV) solar power systems. While the second scenario is leading to terminate the reliance on imported energy by producing all the energy needs locally via (PV) solar system. The study reached to determine the ?nancial budget, the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), and the technical parameters for both scenarios. The urgent action is building up a 555 MWp of (PV) solar system on the rooftop of Gaza Strip’s buildings. This will cost about 800 million $US and the expected price of electricity will be ranged between ($US 0.07–0.11) per kWh, which is four times less than the present price ($US 0.29–0.46) per kWh. The solar energy can lay a strong foundation for an independent the Palestinian state, generate employment opportunities, alleviate poverty and provide a visionary approach to the dreams of Palestinian youths.

Construction of a Novel Fluorescent Probe for On-site Measuring Hydrogen Sulfide Levels in Food Samples
摘要: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has been involved in many foodstuffs and beverages. On-site measuring the H2S level in food samples was beneficial to the concerns about food safety and food quality. Herein, we rationally constructed a novel fluorescent probe to track the H2S levels in various food samples. The optical experiments indicated that the probe displayed highly selective and sensitive response to H2S. In addition, the probe can function well in a wide pH value condition, providing a reliable platform to sense H2S. The practical application demonstrated that the probe was applied for tracking H2S levels in banana, grape, and vinegar for the first time. Importantly, by fabricating test strips, the probe was first served to monitor the released H2S in raw meat without relying on elaborate instrumentation. Thus, the probe could be employed as a simple tool to measure the H2S levels in various food samples, as well as to monitor the fresh-like quality of raw meat under on-site conditions.

Determination of diffraction time and influence of strip moving speeds on texture measurement using X-ray area detector
摘要: In this study, the two most important factors, diffraction time and the influence of the strip moving speed on diffraction accuracy, are analyzed using a laboratory two-dimensional X-ray diffraction system. The results indicate that 2 s is a diffraction time that satisfies both requirements of detection speed and accuracy. The strip moving speed has a certain influence on the detection accuracy, but the influence of the strip moving speed on the diffraction accuracy can be neglected within a strip moving speed of 0.65 m/s. The measurement of online texture and mechanical properties, combined with the fast texture detection theory and mechanical properties calculation model, can be realized in a steel production factory.

The stability of graphene-based M?bius strip with vacancy and at high-temperature
摘要: The structural and electronic properties of mono-vacancy (MV) defect in graphene-based M?bius strip (GMS) are studied in the framework of density functional theory (DFT) combined with the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Two kinds of MV defects are observed: the 59-type MV (a configuration with one pentagon and one nonagon ring) located at the curved areas of M?bius strip, and the 5566-type MV (a configuration with two pentagon and two hexagon rings) with one sp3 hybridized carbon appeared in the twisted areas. The 5566-type MV defect is the most stable configuration at 0 K, while the DFT-MD calculations show that it is unstable at room-temperature and will transform into a 59-type MV. Additionally, the melting behavior of GMSs is investigated through empirical potential MD simulations, and we find that their melting temperatures are about 2750 K, which is lower than that of carbon nanotubes and graphene.
