The study successfully constructed a new noble-metal-free photocatalyst of MoS2-BP/GO with broad wavelength absorption for photocatalytic reduction of water to H2. GO showed dual functions in both synthetic process and photocatalytic H2 production, acting as a surfactant and catalyst carrier, and as an electron shuttle for promoting efficient charge separation/transfer.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection
The study involved the construction of a noble-metal-free ternary photocatalyst MoS2-BP/GO for splitting water to H2, utilizing GO for assisted exfoliation of BP and as an electron shuttle.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources
Bulk BP crystals, single layer of GO, and bulk MoS2 crystals were used. The samples were prepared through liquid-phase exfoliation and hybridization processes.

N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), methanol, bulk BP crystals (XF161), single layer of GO (XF002-1), bulk MoS2 crystals (XF184-1), tip sonicator (Misonix XL-2000), Xenon lamp (Asahi Spectra, HAL-320W), gas chromatograph (Shimadzu GC-8A).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow
BP/GO was obtained through NMP solvent exfoliation. MoS2-BP/GO was prepared by adding MoS2 NMP dispersion into BP/GO NMP dispersion. Photocatalytic H2 production was carried out under visible-NIR light irradiation.
5:Data Analysis Methods
The gases produced were analyzed with a gas chromatograph. Transient absorption spectra were measured by the pump and probe method using a regeneratively amplified titanium sapphire laser.
