研究目的
To compare the relative treatment outcomes of different types of in-office laser (Nd: YAG, pulsed diode, and alexandrite lasers) and IPL in terms of hair count reduction and incidence of adverse events, in subjects with phototypes III-VI.
研究成果
In-office laser devices and IPL are both safe and effective for unwanted hair removal in subjects with skin type III-VI, with no materially significant differences in efficacy between them. The present study showed that the in-office laser devices and IPL had comparable rates of hair reduction and incidence of adverse events, except for immediate pain after the procedure. Nevertheless, we observed a trend toward greater hair reduction following laser treatment compared to IPL.
研究不足
There were statistically significant heterogeneities in the pooled effect estimates, likely because of the wide variations in the characteristics of the studies’ populations, designs, and laser techniques. Moreover, shortcomings in the methodological quality of some of the included studies may affect the quality of the present evidence. In particular, small sample size and the lack of reliable data on the effect of laser and IPL on each skin type; the latter precluded our ability to perform subgroup analysis to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of different treatment modality for each skin types.
