研究目的
To assess the effect of Nd:YAG laser and silver nanoparticles on the enhancement of tooth resistance against caries.
研究成果
The combined laser illumination and the addition of silver nanoparticles lowered the tooth abrasion degree and increased tooth resistance to decay. The demineralized samples of all laser-treated samples had higher Ca/P ratios compared to the demineralized control sample, indicating a higher resistance against acids.
研究不足
The study was conducted in vitro, which may not fully replicate the conditions in a living organism. The high laser energy fluence used could potentially cause cracks in the enamel, and the effect of silver nanoparticles on the long-term health of the tooth was not fully explored.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection
The study involved the use of Nd:YAG laser with and without nanosilver particles to treat tooth enamel samples. The samples were divided into three main groups for different treatments.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources
Forty-eight mature molars and premolars freshly extracted teeth samples in good dental health were used. The samples were stored in 10% formalin and prepared for treatment.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials
Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer, Vickers microhardness tester, and various chemicals for preparing silver nanoparticles and demineralization solutions.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow
The samples were treated with laser at different fluences and pulses, with some samples also treated with silver nanoparticles. Post-treatment, the samples underwent microhardness testing, AFM, SEM, EDS analysis, and demineralization and re-mineralization tests.
5:Data Analysis Methods
SPSS version 25 software was used for data analysis, including non-parametric ANOVA (Kruskal-Wallis test) and Scheefy Significant Difference post hoc test.
