The study employed laser beam (LB) welding and laser/gas metal arc hybrid (LGH) welding processes on SAF 2507 super duplex stainless steel.

A 6-kW IPG high-brightness multimode ytterbium-doped (Yb fiber) continuous wave (CW) laser (model YLS-6000) and a TPS-4000 Fronius welding machine were used.

The welding region was cleaned before welding, and Ar gas was used to prevent oxidation.
