Ionization of hydrogen chloride in few-cycle intense laser pulses
摘要: The single ionization of HCl (X^1Σ^+) molecules in few-cycle intense laser pulses at 800 nm has been studied for laser intensities ranging from 2X 10^13 to 1.4X 10^14 W/cm^2. Total and partial ionization probabilities were computed in the framework of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory. The influence of the laser pulse duration and the carrier envelope phase on the HCl ionization was investigated.

A Photonic System for Generating Unconditional Polarization-Entangled Photons Based on Multiple Quantum Interference
摘要: We present a high-performance source of unconditional polarization-entangled photons that have a high-emission rate, a broadband distribution, are degenerated and postselection free. The property of the source is based on the multiple quantum interference effect with a round-trip configuration of a Sagnac interferometer. The quantum interference effects make it possible to use the high generation efficiency of the polarization-entangled photons to process parametric down-conversion, and separate degenerated photon pairs into different optical modes without a postselection requirement. The principle of the optical system was described and experimentally used to measure the fidelity and Bell parameters, and also to characterize the generated polarization-entangled photons from a minimum of six combinations of polarization correlated data. The experimentally obtained fidelity and Bell parameters exceeded the classical local correlation limit and are clear evidence of the generation of unconditional polarization-entangled photons.

Spatial and temporal resolution in entangled ghost imaging
摘要: We show that, when the integration time of the single photon detectors is longer than the correlation time of the biphoton, the attainable spatial resolution in ghost imaging with entangled signal-idler pairs generated in type II spontaneous parametric down conversion is limited by the angular spread of single-frequency-signal-idler pairs. If, however, the detector integration time is shorter than the biphoton correlation time, the transverse k-vectors of different spectral components combine coherently in the image, improving the spatial resolution.

Tunable Quantum Beat of Single Photons Enabled by Nonlinear Nanophotonics
摘要: We demonstrate the tunable quantum beat of single photons through the co-development of core nonlinear nanophotonic technologies for frequency-domain manipulation of quantum states in a common physical platform. Spontaneous four-wave mixing in a nonlinear resonator is used to produce nondegenerate, quantum-correlated photon pairs. One photon from each pair is then frequency shifted, without degradation of photon statistics, using four-wave-mixing Bragg scattering in a second nonlinear resonator. Fine tuning of the applied frequency shift enables tunable quantum interference of the two photons as they are impinged on a beam splitter, with an oscillating signature that depends on their frequency difference. Our work showcases the potential of nonlinear nanophotonic devices as a valuable resource for photonic quantum-information science.

摘要: Over the past decade, exciton-polaritons in semiconductor microcavities have attracted a great deal of interest as driven-dissipative quantum fluids [1]. They offer themselves as a versatile platform for performing Hamiltonian simulations with light as well as for experimentally realizing nontrivial out-of-equilibrium phase transitions. The key ingredient at the basis of these phenomena is the fact that polaritons interact with each other. In the regime of large two-body interactions, polaritons can be used to manipulate the quantum properties of a light field [2,3,4]. A regime of particular interest that has remained elusive so far is the one for which the interactions are large enough to show up in the system response at the level of few quanta, signified by the presence of quantum correlations between the emitted photons [2]. Here we report on the observation of such correlations in laser light transmitted through a fiber-cavity polariton system, indicating the onset of this strong interaction regime [5]. We observe a dispersive shape of the photon autocorrelation function including weak antibunching around the polariton resonance which is a characteristic signature of this phenomenon. From the photon autocorrelation data, we are further able to extract a value for the polariton-polariton interaction constant. Owing to their weak amplitude, the observed quantum correlations remain far from a fully-developed Fock state of light with low photon number, but they still demonstrate the emergence of time-ordering in the photon stream. Nonetheless, given the underlying physical mechanism [2], our work acts as a door opener for the emerging field of quantum polaritonics [6]. With further improvements both on the photonics engineering and the materials engineering side, quantum well cavity polaritons might eventually become a platform of choice for turning laser light into single photons and for realizing strongly interacting quantum fluids of light for quantum simulations.

Photon detection system designs for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment
摘要: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will be a premier facility for exploring long-standing questions about the boundaries of the standard model. Acting in concert with the liquid argon time projection chambers underpinning the far detector design, the DUNE photon detection system will capture ultraviolet scintillation light in order to provide valuable timing information for event reconstruction. To maximize the active area while maintaining a small photocathode coverage, the experiment will utilize a design based on plastic light guides coated with a wavelength-shifting compound, along with silicon photomultipliers, to collect and record scintillation light from liquid argon. This report presents recent preliminary performance measurements of this baseline design and several alternative designs which promise signi?cant improvements in sensitivity to low-energy interactions.

The Dynamical Behaviors of the Two-Atom and the Dynamical Casimir Effect in a Non-Stationary Cavity
摘要: We study the dynamical Casimir effect and the dynamical behaviors of the two-atom in a non-stationary cavity containing two two-level atoms. By solving the problem in a matrix method, we obtain an analytic solution. The results show that the larger of the atom-field coupling coefficients and the coupling coefficient of atoms, the fewer photons generated, but the probability of double excitation of the two-atom increases with the coupling coefficients. The squeezed coefficient enhances the generation rate of the created photons and the possibility of the atoms in the excited states.

Design and development of in-situ temperature dependent diffuse reflectance spectroscopy setup
摘要: Recent advancements in the commercialization of In-situ temperature dependent optical spectrophotometer have shown potential not only for the recording of optical absorption spectra but also towards the exploration of physical insights and the understanding of instrument handling. Measurement on the effect of the variation of temperature onto optical properties mainly for semi-conducting oxides helps to explore the functioning and play a crucial role towards the development of optoelectronic devices. Being a non-contact, non-destructive technique temperature dependent DRS Setup can be used as a primary tool for the in-situ characterization of optical properties. This appreciation prompts us to design and develop an instrument that can add the ability of in-situ temperature dependent DRS above room temperature. The setup, developed and reported here, is able to accurately characterize the samples from room temperature to 500 K, which is most suitable range for the characterization of semiconducting materials, which is in the heard of current materials’ research. The present study provides the economical alternatives to the existing designs used for this purpose without compromising on the reliability of the obtained data. The in-house developed set up is found to be efficiently used for the analysis of various properties of the samples and will open up the instrumental development and commercialization of the temperature dependent DRS technique.

New Analytical Formulae to Calibrate HPGe Well-type Detectors Efficiency and to Calculate Summing Corrections
摘要: Direct mathematical method is used in this paper to calculate the photo peak efficiency of a system containing a radioactive source placed in the well of a well type detector. Attenuation of the source and detector’s walls are included. In addition summing corrections are also included. The comparison between published experimental values and present calculated values are given. This work proved quite success in predicting the photo peak efficiency of certain detectors even for a radionuclide emitting rays with different energies.
